Whether it is Sunday game watching or the Big Game to culminate the season, Avocados from Mexico and Drew Brees want everyone to get into the Guac Zone. Although football fans might not be able influence the play on the field, they can score with some tasty avocado recipes.

Recently, FoodSided spoke to the former Saints quarterback about his partnership with Avocados from Mexico. While the promotion has many football fans ready to head to the Guac Zone, Brees shared a winning guacamole recipe that his family enjoys.

Brees said that generally his family likes all the traditional items in guacamole, but sometimes he likes to boost the flavor. He said, “I always love to incorporate some season fruit into guacamole. For example, fresh mango is a favorite. It takes the flavor to another level with that little surprise.”

That idea of sneaking in a few extra fruits and vegetables is a popular parent trick. Given that avocados are already a great nutritional source, any extras are a bonus.

Brees appreciates that it is important to put avocados into the healthy eating conversation. From adding a smart fat into the mix to finding the fuel to replenish all that hard work, adding a slice of that green fruit to a variety of recipes is a good choice.

While many people love guacamole on its own, chips aren’t the only food on the table. From a topping for a sandwich to a scoop in a salad, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the classic dish. Even that classic deviled egg can be transformed with some avocado.

Beyond the idea that avocados are always in season, the football game day spread can benefit from a little variety. Since many football fans have lucky foods, favorite foods and the like, that game watching feast can satisfy a variety of appetites.

In the Brees household, they like to serve a charcuterie board. As Brees commented, that option can be scaled for any guests. From kid friendly choices to plenty of cheese, that ability to graze throughout the game is always a huge win.

With the Big Game only a few months away, Avocados from Mexico announced that it is returning to the epic broadcast by highlighting the concept “Always Good.” As AFM President and CEO, Alvaro Luque said, “The Big Game has always been an effective way for us to connect with avocado obsessed consumers. Not only did we first introduce our brand seven years ago at the Big Game, but we’ve innovated year after year to continue to engage and excite avocado fans.”

Although the teams are not set for the Big Game yet, Brees had a few thoughts as the NFL season hits the mid-way point. For the AFC, he thinks that the Tennessee Titans have been hot. Other teams with a good chance include the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.

For the NFL, the Bucs and the Packers top his list. Still, Brees said that a few other teams could rise to the top. From the Rams to the Cardinals, there are plenty of teams who could make a run for the Big Game.

While the teams might be looking to get into the Red Zone, avocado fans are looking to head to the Guac Zone. It is time to showcase how avocados are always good. Do you have a recipe that can score a big win?
