Baking It might have the hardest judges of all the culinary competitions
On the new Peacock show, Baking It, Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg might be the comedic levity, but the judging panel serves advice that only a grandma could offer. And, since it is a panel of grandmas, no one better argue with their opinion.
The newest Peacock culinary competition is a blend of confectionery creativity and sprinkling of humor. While the baking teams are ready to impress with whimsical, winter delights, they might need a little tough skin when they approach the judging table. As many people have learned in their own family, grandma might mean well but her approach might need to be a little more tactful.

Although many people might find a certain fiery chef’s remarks a little cutting, these grandmas and their feedback could leave a mark on the teams. Given the grandmas’ long list of baking accolades, they know their way around a stand mixer. No one better try to tell a little white lie to this panel.
In some ways, these four grandmas might be the toughest critics on food TV. Even though their blue ribbons line the trophy case and their expertise is unmatched, they have a specific palate. Anyone who has changed grandma’s iconic recipe might have received that stink eye. Sometimes the tried and true is better in grandma’s point of view. It might be hard to convince her otherwise.
Throughout the six episodes, the teams of two bakers are ready to stack, whip and decorate their way to victory. Although a big cash prize awaits the winning team, these holiday baking challenges will not be a walk in the park. For anyone who is looking for a little levity this holiday season, Baking It will be must watch food TV.
In addition to the baking competition, the quick wit of Rudolph and Samberg will make this show quite entertaining. Just like Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman bring their chemistry to Making It, Rudolph and Samberg offer that perfect timing which engages viewers.
Baking It with Maya Rudolph, Andy Samberg, eight teams of bakers and four grandmas debuts on Peacock on Thursday, December 2.
