Food Network and Bobby Flay goes to a place they’ve never imagined

Now that the Food Network and Bobby Flay negotiated a new contract, the collaboration is ready to head off in a whole new direction. Given that Flay has influenced not only the Food Network and its success but also how people have come to immerse themselves into the food world, new programs might be just one aspect of the collaboration.

According to a recent Food Network press release, this culinary partnership is more than just a new series or another competition show. As Courtney White, President, Food Network and Streaming Food Content, Discovery Inc., said, “Bobby generously invites viewers into his culinary world, sharing his #WeCook philosophy and inspiring everyone in the kitchen.” That ability to connect with the viewer and the food world is what has made Flay such a popular culinary personality.

From his competitive spirit to that passion for food, Flay brings the flavor to the food on the screen. Whether it is challenging someone to “beat him” or sharing a laugh with other celebrity chefs, the ability to engage long after the show is over is what makes Flay an asset to the Food Network.

Although Flay admitted that contract negotiations might not have been smooth sailing, he is looking forward to building on their “rock solid foundation.” Specifically Flay said, “Stay tuned for some incredibly exciting new shows as I promise to take food and cooking to places we’ve never imagined before.”

What is next for Food Network and Bobby Flay?

When the contract extension was announced, a new food television show was included in the press release. Slated to premiere in 2022, Bobby and Sophie on the Coast looks to be a food and travel show featuring Flay and his daughter.

Previously, the pair had other programs on the Food Network. Although this show is still a work in progress, it could be a new direction for the popular culinary personality.

Given that Flay has had a guiding hand in the evolution of food television, it will be interesting to see how new programs take the network in a new direction. Food continually evolves and programming needs to keep pace.
