While Sean Lowe might have made a match for life through The Bachelor, the husband and father appreciates that the holiday season is about family traditions. From favorite food to keeping the chaos to a minimum, it is all a delicate balance in their household. Luckily, he has a few tricks to keep the merry magical all season long.

Recently, Lowe spoke to FoodSided about some of his holiday food traditions, finding a little couple time during the holidays and even some smart advice for renovating a home. Luckily, he has a little help from Whirlpool along the way.

Even though he might not be handing out roses during the holiday season, Sean, his wife Catherine and his children look to their heritage to enjoy a few flavors of the season. Sean mentioned that Catherine always makes Arroz Caldo, a traditional Filipino dish, which is part of her family heritage. In their household, it is important for the kids to appreciate those dishes that flavor part of their background.

Specifically, Sean said that Arroz Caldo is “the perfect cold weather dish.” They like to enjoy this “family favorite” dish when “you’re not going to leave the house, just want to say inside and watch movies type of day.”

While that family favorite dish of Arroz Caldo is delicious, it serves more than just a satisfying plate of food. Sean mentioned that “cooking is a great example of sharing a taste of Catherine’s Filipino culture.”

For their family, it is important to “share those messages from her culture.” While they are “always conscious of that connection,” they want to “teach them something along the way” as well make it enjoyable.

How does Sean Lowe carve out couples time during the holidays?

Even though many of their activities are a family affair, the reality is that Sean and Catherine appreciate that there needs to be some couple’s time. Sean said that after the kids go to bed, that is their time.

Specifically saying, “the days can be hectic, stressful and chaotic, but that is part of being a parent. When the house is quiet and it is just the two of us, it is definitely special. Even if it just sitting on the couch watching a show, it is important to have that quality time every day. “

Given that the couple makes it a priority to have a quality couple time every day, it is important for them to have a few tricks to make life a little easier. During the recent renovation of their lake house, the new Whirlpool Smart Electric Range with Frozen Bake Technology is one of those items that has made life easier. From being able to cook from frozen to even a “party mode” that ensures food stays warm without overcooking, the right appliance can be the helper that everyone appreciates.

In the Lowe household, Whirlpool appliances are their go-to choice not just for the functionality but also for the aesthetic. When an appliance looks great and offers an ease of cooking, it is a win for everyone. From programming from a cell phone to the technology built into the appliance, it might not make everyone an award winning chef, but it will set home cooks on a successful path.

Sean Lowe shares smart renovation advice.

Since Lowe just finished a renovation of his lake house, he offered some cautious advice for anyone considering tackling a project for the new year. Lowe said, “renovation can be very gratifying, and they are happy that we did it,” but there are a few caveats.

One word of advice is about budget. While it is best to know your budget, “you might want to tack on another 20%.” While “hopefully that’s not where the budget ends up,” but it is better to be prepared.

The same can be said about the time frame. Since things might not work out as quickly as people want, “it might take longer than you expect.” But, Lowe recommends staying on top of things to make sure that everything goes as smooth.

And, as Lowe said, “no one will love your home as much as you do,” so it is important to put in the effort. After all, the family will be craving that Arroz Caldo or whatever traditional family favorite food for many holidays to come.
