While Food Network, Cooking Channel and Discovery+ shows give a satisfying glimpse into the food world, Ted Allen is set to unveil Where Chefs Eat. Debuting on Wednesday, December 29 at 9 p.m. ET on Cooking Channel, Allen travels to Philadelphia and gives a delectable look at some of the city’s best food that might not be on everyone’s radar.

Joined by Mike Solomonov, Allen delves into some of the hidden gems that are chefs’ favorites. While some places might top that restaurant review list, the reality is that chefs tend to know the locales that might not be the biggest name or the hottest ticket. But, once the food arrives at the table, food lovers appreciate that hidden gem, and might want to keep that food find a secret.

In this food television show, Allen and Solomonov reveal a special sushi bar known to just a few, colorful dumplings that might be too pretty to eat and a frozen treat that might have people looking twice. These food choices not only push the creativity level, but seek to inspire chefs to think beyond the traditional.

Sometimes these special locales are even more flavorful because of the story coming from the kitchen. In Where Chefs Eat, Allen and Solomonov look to discuss more than the impeccable meal served on the table. In some ways, the flavor comes from the stories coming from the kitchen.

From Chef Nok Suntaranon and her ability to blend layered flavors with stunning presentations to Chef Lou Boquilla who brings a taste of his mother’s cooking to the masses, the chefs are vital to this vibrant Philadelphia food scene. But, it is more than just offering a seat at the table to a delicious feast. Many of these stories are woven into bolstering the community.

As seen over the past several years, restaurants are the heart of a community. It is more than just the place that people gather on Friday night. It fosters a connection between people and chefs use their voice to highlight local causes. While the table might hold the food that satisfies, it is the coming together that truly nourishes everyone.

With Where Chefs Eat, Allen and Solomonov strike the right balance between enticing foodies to book a trip to Philadelphia, explore the culinary and appreciate the community. While some people will use this show as a way to travel to their next food adventure, it hopefully goes beyond just making people hungry. It might serve as a push to explore within other cities. Beyond the big names and popular choices, some hidden gems are waiting to be discovered.
