Ford Field Express Shop transforms the stadium concession stand
Football fans have a new way to grab a bite and hopefully not miss the big play. At the Ford Field Express Shop, the evolution of the stadium concession stand is just what fans want.
Anyone who sees their favorite team in person appreciates that the action on the field is the real draw. Still, those classic stadium snacks and refreshing beverages are never far from reach.
The only downside is that no one wants to be “that guy.” Who hasn’t been the guy who missed the big play because they were waiting in line for those nachos. Those few moments become the “hey go back in line because they scored when you were gone” or “you can’t leave or they might fumble again.” It is a no win situation.
At the same time, the longer lines in between quarters or mad dash during halftime can be overwhelming. Stadiums are finding ways to get fans their purchases in a streamlined way so that they do not miss any of the action.
What is the Ford Field Express Shop?
According to the Ford Field hospitality partner Levy, the Ford Field Express show is the “first frictionless market inside a professional football stadium powered by Verizon’s 5G technology and AiFi’s computer vision and intelligent analytics.” While that statement might sound complicated, it basically streamlines the concession stand concept so that fans get their purchases and get back to their seats quickly. In addition, the whole process is contactless. From quicker purchases to ease of use, the idea could become the new norm for stadiums.
In addition, the Ford Field Express Shop offers some signature food items. According to Levy, the Ford Field Express Shop will feature fan favorite food choices like Pulled Pork Nachos and Detroit-style Coney Dogs. Also, the shop will offer soft drinks, water and other packaged snacks. Additional food and beverage options will continue to expand.
This type of stadium offering seems to be the hospitality future for stadiums. Although high-end offering and specialty areas will not disappear, many people want these types of streamlined options. Looking ahead to future football seasons, it seems that contactless and cashless is the name of the game.
