After an exciting series premiere, the teams have been selected but Next Level Chef episode 2 is ready to put the chefs feet to the fire. Which team can get the perfect sear and which chef has cooked their last dish in this tri-level cooking competition?

According to FOX, Next Level Chef episode 2, “High Steaks” features the following:

"Gordon Ramsay, Nyesha Arrington and Richard Blais challenge their newly selected teams to create the ultimate steak dinner! Each team has been randomly assigned to a kitchen, where they will need to prove that they can create magic in any environment, even when the odds are stacked against them. The best dish will keep their entire team safe from elimination, but one contestant will be sent home with their dreams up in flames in the all-new “High Steaks” time period premiere episode of NEXT LEVEL CHEF airing Wednesday, Jan. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

In the first episode, it is hard to tell if some chefs were just having a bad day or really need a strong guiding hand in the kitchen. From missed ingredients to poor attitudes, those mistakes can be a big downfall for many talented cooks. The chefs who can have a steady demeanor blended with that culinary creativity should have an edge in this competition.

While the premiere episode seemed to set the tone, many people are looking to see the chefs showcase their cooking skills with the help of the mentors, Gordon Ramsay, Richard Blais and Nyesha Arrington. Although the teams seem to be fairly evenly matched, the weekly competitions will never be that straightforward or easy.

For this episode, a steak challenge will be more than just better kitchen equipment and higher quality cuts of steak. Good cookery must be mastered whether the chefs are cooking on a gas grill or a hot plate. An overcooked steak is never permissible.

Although the chefs are focus of the competition, the mentors might make the difference in the final outcome. There is a fine balance between pushing for excellence and crushing dreams. The mentors who communicate and drive the chefs could have the best outcome.

Still, no one wants to be the first one eliminated. Unfortunately, someone will have the designation. Be sure to watch Next Level Chef episode 2 Wednesday, January 5 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
