Always a force in the Food Network kitchen, Alex Guarnaschelli has proved quite successful in her latest culinary competition and Alex vs America Season 2 has been added to the schedule. In a recent Food Network announcement, the second installment of the uber popular food television show was announced as the first season heads towards its finale. Is there a chef out there who can take down the culinary giant?
Over the past several years, Food Network has shown that culinary competitions captivate viewers. Whether it is the iconic Chopped, the exciting Tournament of Champions or the seasonal Baking Championships, viewers tune in and stream those programs over and over. Whether or not the favorite chef continues that winning streak is unimportant. It is the food complexity, the potential failure and the spirited food debates that get audiences hooked.
Alex vs America has a rather straightforward concept. With Eric Adjepong as host, three chefs try to push Guarnaschelli off her culinary pedestal. If a challenger’s dish prevails over Guarnaschelli’s in the final round, they will win. Otherwise, the chefs walk away with nothing.
While the competition is at the heart of the program, it is more than just a culinary gauntlet of sorts. As Courtney White, President, Food Network and Streaming Food Content, Discovery Inc. said, “Alex’s full arsenal of talent on display with her sharp wit, raw authenticity, and culinary competitiveness.” As seen in this season’s episodes, the commentary is just as compelling as the food.
Looking ahead to Alex vs America Season 2 it will be interesting to see how many chefs can earn that triumph. So far, few chefs have beaten Guarnaschelli on her show, which is a testament to her depth of knowledge and skill. Whether it is her culinary competition experience, her drive to win or her breath of knowledge, her win column is a huge statement. But, like any streak, it will come to an end. Or, will it?
The premiere date for Alex vs America Season 2 has not be announced. Alex vs America Season 1 can be seen on Food Network Sunday nights at 10 p.m. and can be streamed on Discovery+.
