Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime finale: Who gets the keys to the kingdom?
With the biggest prize ever awarded on the Food Network, the Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime finale will give one person the keys to a Chicken Guy franchise. Although some of the contestants flew to the top and other scuttled to the bottom, one thing was clear in this Food Network competition. Running a restaurant franchise isn’t easy.
According to the Food Network, the Guy’s Chance of a Lifetime finale, Guy’s Keys to the Kingdom, features the following:
"At Fry or Fly Fest in Nashville, Tenn., it’s time for the six candidates to impress Guy Fieri, the judges and the festival crowd with the creativity, flavors and execution in their tents. There are some big hits and a few misses, but overall, Guy is impressed with how much the candidates have learned and how far they’re willing to go for the keys to a Chicken Guy! franchise — but he’s still not sure who deserves them. He decides to issue one more challenge: The candidates have to prep the new Nashville Chicken Guy! for its grand opening. Guy has a heart-to-heart with each candidate and struggles with the decision, but in the end, only one can fly and win."
Throughout the season, the contestants have had to prove that they are more than just a good cook. While they must be able to execute a great dish and showcase that their original creations have balanced flavors, this job is more than just excelling in the kitchen.
For example, a restaurant can have the most delicious food, but if no one knows about it, the business is not successful. Smart marketing is key.
Even more importantly, the customer experience needs to bring people back time and again. The novelty might bring them in the door once. A successful restaurant will have them coming back time and again longing for another bite.
Looking at the contestants, there are people that you want to win and the ones who have the drive to win. For example, Phillip is quite likeable. From his creative promotions to his affable personality, everyone seems to like him. But, sometimes he seems a little flustered in the kitchen. He is on the cusp of being great but might need a little more experience to push him to the next level.
While any of the contestants could walk away with the keys to the kingdom, one good bet is Kevin. As the top earner from the challenges, he has proven that he has the culinary talent, the drive and the right demeanor to be a successful franchise owner. Depending on the finale challenge, it could be his to win or lose.
