Hostess Boost Jumbo Donettes look to energize the morning
For many people, coffee and a donut is a great way to start the day. The combination of caffeine and sweetness offers that boost many people crave. With the new Hostess Boost Jumbo Donettes, there is a little extra in those tasty donuts.
Many people grab those Hostess mini-donuts as a quick, easy breakfast or treat. Often poppable, they are tasty and bring a touch of fun to having a little indulgence. Whether eaten on their own or paired with a beverage, there can always be a reason to open a package.
Sometimes that favorite food can have a little extra that entices people to open the bag and enjoy another bite. That more with food is not just another exciting flavor.
Over the past couple of years, brands have been adding caffeine to their recipes, which is more than another energy drink. That boost of caffeine in food may not impact the flavor, but it is intended to offer an energizing bite.
What are the Hostess Boost Jumbo Donettes?
The latest addition to the brand’s line-up, the Hostess Boost Jumbo Donettes are caffeinated donuts. Available in two flavors, the donut is said to contain “50-70 milligrams” of caffeine per donut, which “is slightly less than one cup of coffee.”
As Christopher Balach, general manager of Hostess Brands, LLC., said, “For adults who are increasingly looking for alternative sources of caffeine, our new Hostess Boost Jumbo Donettes offer a tasty, energy-boosting, grab-and-go way to jumpstart the day.”
The addition of caffeine in the donut will get people’s attention. Although it might not make them skip the coffee pairing, the donut “pick-me up” could be a way to cut through the bleary eyed morning or avoid the mid-afternoon slump.
While there have been other foods that have added caffeine, this idea could change the morning routine. In some ways, it begs the question, what other foods could be caffeinated. Is a caffeine cereal next on the list?
The new Hostess Boost Jumbo Donettes are available in two flavors, Chocolate Mocha and Caramel Macchiato. As the names suggest, the flavors are based on popular coffee beverages.
The Chocolate Mocha combines the richness of chocolate and the bold flavor of espresso. The Caramel Macchiato has a lusciousness of caramel and that espresso flavor.
Lastly, as the name suggests, the donuts are not those mini-bites. Each donut is “three times bigger than the original Hostess Donettes.” The bigger size could help for more mindful eating, which can be important with the caffeine in each bite.
Sold in single serving packages, the Hostess Boost Jumbo Donettes have a suggested retail price of $2.49. It will be sold at various retailers.
