Krispy Kreme stuffs an entire candy bar into its new doughnut offering
After giving doughnut lovers the sweetness Valentine’s Day gift, the Red Hot light is back on with totally new Krispy Kreme doughnut offerings. The new Krispy Kreme TWIX doughnuts have stuffed all that crunchy, cookie, caramel goodness into those infamous doughnuts.
Starting on February 21, the three new Krispy Kreme TWIX doughnuts come to the menu for a limited time. While the iconic doughnut brand has partnered with candy companies previously, remember the Reese’s collaborations, this new sweet treat goes even bigger. Ready to get stuffed?
According to Krispy Kreme Chief Marketing Officer Dave Skena, “We are always looking for new ways to provide our fans an awesome doughnut experience, so we’ve partnered with another iconic brand – TWIX – for the first time ever. We created mini and fun-size doughnuts made with TWIX Bars and then went even further to create a bar-shaped doughnut with a full-size TWIX Bar in the middle!”
To clarify, the three new doughnuts are Caramel Cookie Crunch Bar Doughnut filled with a TWIX Cookie Bar, Caramel Cookie Crunch Original Filled Doughnut topped with TWIX Cookie Bar pieces and Mini Caramel Cookie Doughnut topped with TWIX Cookie Bar pieces. For anyone who has a sweet tooth, they will be called by the Red Hot Light. Although Krispy Kreme does not weigh in on the TWIX right side versus left side debate, it appears that the middle, aka stuffing, might be the tastiest answer.
According to the doughnut company, the Caramel Cookie Crunch Bar Doughnut filled with a TWIX Cookie Bar is an over the top option. The bar shape doughnut, similar to the shape of a long john doughnut, features a whole TWIX bar stuffed inside. In addition, it is filled with Chocolate KREME, dipped in chocolate icing, then topped with a duche de leche drizzle and more TWIX pieces.
The reality is that this TWIX doughnut is more like a dessert. It might be best to share one with a friend.
For that classic flavor, but a little less grand, the Caramel Cookie Crunch Original Filled Doughnut topped with TWIX Cookie Bar pieces is a wonderful choice. The salted caramel filling might be the true star of this doughnut. Even with all those TWIX pieces, it is hard to resist a great salted caramel.
Lastly, the Mini Caramel Cookie Doughnut topped with TWIX Cookie Bar pieces is a perfect option for someone who wants a taste, but doesn’t want to overindulge. The Mini Original Glazed is topped with TWIX and dipped in chocolate. In some ways, this little doughnut captures the collaboration in a simple, yet delicious, way.
Available now for a limited time, the Krispy Kreme TWIX doughnuts are sold in two options. First, the regular sized doughnuts are sold individually or in specialty dozen. The specialty dozen features “four Caramel Cookie Crunch Bar Doughnuts filled with a TWIX Bar, four Caramel Cookie Crunch Original Filled Doughnuts topped with TWIX Bar pieces, and four Original Glazed Doughnuts.”
Also, the Mini Caramel Cookie Doughnut topped with TWIX Bar pieces can be purchased as part of a 16 doughnut box. That offering includes “four Mini Strawberry Iced with Sprinkles Doughnuts, four Mini Chocolate Iced Doughnuts and four Mini Original Glazed Doughnuts.”
