Even if snow might be blanketing the ground, Spring Baking Championship Season 8 premiere has everyone thinking of brighter days. With a new host and a set of bakers ready for the challenge, this season is set to bloom into greatness.

According to the Food Network, the Spring Baking Championship Season 8 premiere, “Everything’s Coming Up Floral” features the following:

"Twelve bakers enter the Spring Baking Barn to create delicious desserts featuring the freshest fruit and flowers the farm has to offer! In the first round, host Molly Yeh challenges the bakers to make fruit tarts that showcase their distinct personalities. Then, the bakers must fight to remain in the game with a floral bonanza cake that wows judges Kardea Brown, Nancy Fuller and Duff Goldman."

In the first episode of each season, there are many ups and downs. Although no one wants to put a chill on the competition, it is hard to see which bakers will rise to the top and others who will just skim the middle.

But, the bakers need to be smart in this first challenge. While taking the win is always a good choice, no one wants to become a target. Like any culinary competition, it is part of a game. Strategy can be important.

Looking at the first challenge, tackling fruit tarts is hard. From a perfectly flaky pastry to the right balance of flavor with the fruit, it might be one of the most difficult starting tasks.

But, it is also a good challenge for the first option. It can give the judges a chance to see how the bakers think. From traditional to creative, this first challenge could give a glimpse of the ultimate champion.

As for the elimination challenge, the bakers better hope that they seeded a path to victory. Although Nancy Fuller will always be looking for that stunning visual, it needs to be more than just a view. Even if the prettiest flower is a vision, that cake needs to deliver on the promise.

Spring Baking Championship Season 8 premiere airs on Food Network Monday, February 28 at 9 p.m. EST. Also, it can be streamed on Discovery+.
