Sometimes a moment, a song or even a food can make a moment more complete. It can make memories flood back, bring a smile, or just make people feel part of a community. While Fritos has been part of snack shelf for almost 90 years, the new campaign with Thomas Rhett shows that the iconic snack brand is Down For Everything.

In many homes, Fritos is a pantry staple. Whether it is a handful enjoyed with a meal, a topping for chili or even using that bag as a food vessel, the reality is that Fritos go with almost anything and everything.

Usually, snacks are featured in a variety of advertisements. During the most recent Super Bowl, Lay’s made its triumphant return. Who didn’t laugh at the “Push It” remake with the Flamin’ Hot snacks?

But, sometimes a more poignant turn is in order. After a 20 year absence, Fritos has a new commercial featuring Thomas Rhett. While the snacks are part of the conversation, it is more than just enjoying a crispy, corn chip. It is about making memories that last fast longer than the snacks in the bowl.

As Stacy Taffet, senior vice president of marketing at Frito-Lay said, “Fritos is inherently recognized as a brand that has shown up for generation after generation, whether at mealtime occasions or as a snack. It’s the chip down for any dip, meal, and any moment at our family gatherings or at our community events, and has a lasting tie to our roots. Fritos is a tradition. Those brand values are what make Fritos the stand-up chip that it is.”

While the back and forth is amusing, it shows that people can agree to disagree but they can find common ground. It is that universality which makes this commercial relatable.

As Thomas Rhett commented. “The Fritos brand has been such a staple in my house for as long as I can remember and is always around for some of my favorite things, like a college football tailgate with friends, or bonfires and chili nights with the family. Anyone who knows my music knows how nostalgic I am and how much I value the things in life that help create special memories, so the ‘Down for Everything’ campaign is such a fun and natural fit for me.”

Given all the chaos in the world having a little moment of togetherness is well appreciated. While people can laugh whether they prefer spicy snacks or rather have something more traditional, the reality is that people can communicate when they want. There are ways to find and strengthen that bond. It might not be instantly apparent, but people are more alike than they realize. It might not be a beer summit in the Rose Garden, but a bag of chips can open a conversation that needs to be had.
