Modelo adds new Modelo Chelada flavors and a premium light beer
The popular Mexican beer brand has added a plethora of new beverage options. From two new Modelo Chelada flavors to a new premium light beer, Modelo Oro, there are plenty of reasons to pop open another can of the number two beer brand in the U.S.
Over the past several years, beer brands have looked beyond the traditional lager. While the tried and true is always refreshing, beer drinkers are looking for beverage innovations. It is more than just blindly grabbing any can.
Modelo’s classic beer has touted itself with the idea of the fighting spirit. Whether it is cheering that college alma mater or the beer that pairs with almost anything, the idea that the beverage fits within an overall lifestyle.
Previously, Modelo launched its Chelada style beverages. Generally, a Chelada is a light lager that has lime juice and salt. The combination of tart and slightly salty makes it perfectly refreshing on a hot day.
What are the new Modelo Chelada beers?
In a recent brand announcement, the new Modelo Chelada flavors are Modelo Chelada Naranja Picosa and Modelo Chelada Limon y Sal. Both offerings are available nationwide and the Modelo Limon is available in a 12-pack.
The Modelo Chelada Naranja Picosa is an interesting addition. Adding the orange to the beverage brings some brightness yet rounds out the lime flavors. Although not sweet and tart, it is that little boost that brings nuance to the beverage.
Also, the Modelo Chelada Naranja Picosa has a touch of spice. While not overpowering, that little extra adds excitement. In some ways, it invites the drinker back for more.
What other new offerings join the new Modelo Chelada flavors?
In addition to the two new Modelo Chelada flavors, the popular Mexican beer brand is adding Modelo Oro. This premium light beer seems to take into account current beer trends. As more people want beverages that fit within their on the go lifestyle, the beers need to be sessionable without sacrificing flavor.
The Modelo Oro is a premium sessionable offering. As Saúl Trejo, Senior Brand Manager, Modelo described the beer as “a light cerveza that seals in Modelo’s golden flavor.” That concept is key for light beers. Even though drinkers want sessionable, they do not want to feel as if they are drinking water.
The Modelo Oro is available in Charlotte, North Carolina, Fresno, California and Houston, Texas.
Lastly, Modelo added two more new beverages. They are Modelo Cantarito-Style Cerveza and Modelo Ranch Water. Both of these offerings have limited availability.
