As the first round battles continue, only a few more chefs will make it to the Super 16. In Tournament of Champions Season 3 episode 3, old rivalries are re-ignited. Will the outcome remain the same or will the randomizer cause more havoc in the competition.

According to Food Network, Tournament of Champions Season 3 episode 3, “More Round Rivalries” features the following:

"Guy Fieri continues the first round with four more jaw-dropping head-to-head sudden death battles. Ultimately, four chefs will conquer the randomizer, wow the judges and move on to the Super 16, while four chefs will be eliminated and head home."

So far in the competition, there hasn’t been a huge upset. Although there have been one point battles, the reality is the each battle seems to have had the expected outcome. Regardless of the seeding number, the chef with the culinary competition nuance has earned a spot in the next round.

While some people might have questioned the bracket pairings, no one can argue that each chef wants to move on. No chef is phoning in the dish. Although no one could have predicted that a chef would have missed plating his dish in round two, the battles have been fairly even. There has been no extreme win or unexpected upset.

Still, the Super16 has yet to be determined. There is a possibility that a favorite will fall from grace. Given that the judges rate the dishes blindly, saving a favorite chef just because if off the table. Could an upset be served in episode 3?

The biggest takeaway from the first two episode is that the randomizer is never kind. From the snow cone machine to under 30 minutes to cook, that spin of the wheel may not bring good fortune. Hopefully no one else has to break out the snow cone machine or microwave pressure cooker again.

Even as the first round battles end, it is hard to predict a potential champion. It is really depending on the randomizer and the judges’ sentiments. More importantly, just because a chef impresses during round 1 doesn’t mean that she will earn a spot in round 2. The glory of victory and the agony of defeat ride on just one plate.

While some might want a do-over, there is no pause, edit or try again. Just like the randomizer, One spin seals their fate.
