After tackling queso and making a big play on the field, Top Chef Season 19 episode 3 steps into the dark and discovers nothing is as it seems in Top Chef. In this challenge, only one chef will stretch themselves to earn a victory.
According to Bravo, Top Chef Season 19 episode 3, “Noodles and Rice and Everything Nice” features the following:
"For their first individual challenge of the season, the chefs are surprised in the kitchen by “Top Chef” Miami winner Hung Huynh and challenged to make an Asian-inspired dish. Nothing, however, on “Top Chef” is that simple. Along with Hung, the judges and renowned chef Kiran Verma, they’ll be serving 100 guests at “Top Chef’s” first Asian Night Market."
Top Chef is known for always keeping the cheftestants on their toes. It is more than just unlikely ingredients and difficult cooking conditions. Good cooking is at the heart of every challenge. If the basics can’t be hit, then these chefs need to pack their knives and go.
With a theme of an Asian street market, it is about creating that perfect single bite. There is no hiding behind a perfect plate, fully composed, multi-component dish. These bites need to be bold, flavorful and memorable.
Of course, no one will want to cook Indian food for Padma. But, if they can impress her with that dish, it could help give someone and edge. Still, some chefs may not be confident enough to take on the challenge.
Overall, the culinary competition is still in its early stages. As any Top Chef fan appreciates, the chefs who don’t get a lot of air time will be safe. There are just too many chefs to showcase all the dishes.
And, some fans can potentially predict the top and bottom chefs in each challenge. Basically these rounds are about the mistakes. At this level of cooking, items like broken rice, will never allow a chef to skate through to the next round.
