Tournament of Champions Season 3 episode 4: Round 1 ends
After last episode’s big upsets, the chefs cannot just assume they will be guaranteed another shot. In Tournament of Champions Season 3 episode 4, the final first round battles are completed. Could more upsets be in the cards for these last four slots?
According to Food Network, Tournament of Champions Season 3 episode 4, “The End of Round 1” features the following:
"It’s the final first round battles as Guy Fieri presents four more intense one-on-one sudden death battles. Four culinary titans will move on to the round of 16, while four losing chefs will head home to begin their training for next year."
Looking at some of the last group of chefs, there are plenty of big names that are wanting to make their presence known. For example, Chris Cosentino has won other culinary competitions and has a breadth of knowledge that could serve him well with the randomizer. All those Top Chef Masters and Iron Chef battles could come in handy.
Elizabeth Falkner is ready to make big impression. Although the outcome in last year’s battle was not what she wanted, Falkner has the culinary diversity to go far. Blending that savory and pastry knowledge could give her an edge with some original takes on that randomizer.
Also, Christian Petroni is back. His quick thinking should be able to help him to make it to round 2. But, he will have to think beyond just a great bread and tomato sauce. If the ingredients are too far outside of his wheelhouse, it might be a struggle.
Looking back at the first three episodes, some of the outcomes might not have been too shocking. Sure, Darnell Ferguson, the number one seed, was unexpected. The same can be said about Antonia Lofaso, but she didn’t highlight one of the required ingredients.
The biggest take away so far has been that the chefs need to play the game. Great execution should be a given. But, the chefs who have found a way to channel some creativity into the unlikely combination of ingredients will have an advantage to move on.
