After grilling up some tasty late night food, Top Chef Season 19 episode 4 requires the chefs to do a double take. Sometimes looks can be quite deceiving, but that first bite needs to be delicious on both plates. What can be expected in this new Top Chef episode?

According to Bravo, Top Chef Season 19 episode 4 features the following:

"The chefs are joined by local chef Chris Williams in the Quickfire Challenge. He tasks the chefs to put their own twist on a biscuit dish in honor of his great grandmother, Lucille B. Smith. Then in the Elimination Challenge, the chefs find themselves pushed out of their comfort zones by chef Wylie Dufresne when they’re tasked to work in teams of two to create two dishes that look exactly the same, but taste completely different. The pressure is on because this is a double elimination."

The Quickfire Challenge could be one of the hardest to master. Paying homage to a culinary icon yet not recreating that dish is quite a task. Even if the chefs mean well, they could go down the wrong path. For this challenge, the middle ground might keep some people out of the dog house.

Looking at the Elimination Challenge, the task is almost impossible. While there are a few chefs who will appreciate the gastronomic challenge, it is far from a typical plate.

Given that a visual can influence a person’s perception of a flavor, this concept could have viewers rethinking their own approach to cooking. Sure, there have been “fruit scallops” and blindfold challenges, but this idea is something more.

Depending on the chefs’ approaches, this Elimination Challenge could become a new culinary trend. Sure, there is much talk about realistic looking cakes or is it food, but this idea is different. The food conversation is going to be pushed forward, but it might not have people eating food with their eyes closed.

Lastly, with a double elimination, it is time for the chefs to stand up for themselves. Allowing someone else to “play the game” could put a potential favorite in danger. It might be time to let the ego be heard in the kitchen.
