When Lay’s Potadomes opened its doors, people were surprised. Granted many people love a great chip, especially when the day has been filled with excitement. But, this food experience is more, just like Coachella, itself.

Guests who enjoyed the Potadomes were able to taste the freshest chips ever. These chips are fresh off the line, made within 24 hours of enjoyment. While the classic Frito-Lay chips are never stale, this offering is a combination of freshness and Californian grown goodness.

While part conversation on sustainability, the other aspect is that ingredients matter. Given that Frito-Lay is committed to developing better snacks not just in taste but also for the planet, this experience fosters a bigger conversation. As part of the experience, Lay’s offered a four-course tasting experience. Drawing inspiration from the sights and sounds of Coachella, the Lay’s FRESH 4D menu featured the following:

  • Electronic: Electric Green Pesto and Potato Chip Gnocchi Foam, Basil Powder Rim
  • Hip-Hop: Gold Brushed Potato Chip, Creamy Fontina D(r)ip, Black Truffle
  • Take-Away Dessert: Chocolate Dipped Lay’s Potato Chip

Although some people have pushed the envelope of taking the chips beyond the snack bowl, this menu proves that the classic chips are a versatile ingredient. While some home cooks might be well-versed in using crushed chips as a topping or coating, why not use them in other ways.

From the salty component to a crunch layer, there are endless possibilities. This menu might be an idea from the Frito-Lay creative team, but it could be the inspiration to try something new at home. If you haven’t put together chocolate and potato chips, you don’t know what you’re missing.
