The fruit stand is lending its summertime sweetness to Wendy’s iconic Frosty. The new Wendy’s Strawberry Frosty is officially on restaurant menus and guests cannot get enough of the newest dessert. Grab a spoon, and maybe some of those Hot and Crispy Fries, this new treat cannot be missed.

For many people the Wendy’s Frosty is always a must have. Who hasn’t received the extra benefit from that Frosty Key Tag purchase? Even though people can debate the best way to eat a Frosty, (spoon, straw, dipped fries), the perfect cold temperature and luscious consistency always remains the same. No matter the location, time or day, a tasty frozen treat can be enjoyed.

While both the chocolate and the vanilla Frosty have been a Wendy’s staple, many people have asked for other flavors to join the menu. Although there have been limited time flavors, like a Pickle Frosty in honor or Rick and Morty, a Blue Raspberry Frosty at Talladega for Noah Braxton or even a Bananas Fosters Frosty with a little NOLA “extra” on top, a full roll out of another flavor hasn’t been in the cards, until now.

According to Carl Loredo, Chief Marketing Officer for The Wendy’s Company, “We’re always listening to our fans and as the most-requested item, it was a no-brainer for us to bring the Strawberry Frosty to the menu this season.” This sweet treat might become the hit of the summer.

During a media call, John Li, Wendy’s Vice President of Culinary Innovation, said that the Strawberry Frosty uses the classic vanilla base and incorporates a proprietary strawberry puree. While the Frosty is unlike any other quick service restaurant frozen dessert, this new offering is unique as well. Without losing the vanilla base, the strawberry flavor is a hint like fresh strawberries and a touch of a sundae strawberry syrup. Although there are not pieces of strawberries folded into the treat, there is that real strawberry flavor vibe. It is almost like that home churned ice cream feel. In some ways, it captures the trending concept of newstalgia in a sweet, fresh way.

Given that many people dip the Hot and Crispy Fries into a Frosty, the new Strawberry flavor enhances that taste experience. The salt on the fries heightens the sweetness of the Frosty. While some people put salt on watermelon, that hint of salty/savory with the Strawberry Frosty might change other summer desserts. The strawberry shortcake might deserve a makeover.

As the new Strawberry Frosty takes over the summer menu, it does mean that the Vanilla Frosty will go on hiatus. Wendy’s can only have two Frosty flavors at any given time.

During the media call, Li suggested that the summer Frosty might just be the start of other rotating flavors. Although nothing was confirmed, the possibility was laid that fall, winter or spring could have other limited time offerings. Whether it is cold brew coffee, hot honey, caramel or even that unique pickle flavor, the possibilities of rotating Frosty flavors are many.

For now, the Wendy’s Strawberry Frosty captures that sweet, juicy summer deliciousness. Grab a spoon and dig in before the season changes.
