Popeyes celebrates 50 years of loving that chicken with a throwback deal

Although that infamous chicken sandwich had many people swooning for Popeyes, the quick service restaurant has been around since 1972. Bringing the Louisiana flavors beyond the bayou has given everyone an opportunity to appreciate those bold flavors. To celebrate its 50th anniversary on June 12, the Louisiana Kitchen is offering a special throwback deal.

A visit to Popeyes has a sense of familiar. From the hand battering and breading to the 12 hour marinade, the attention to the detail is key to bringing that flavor. After the first bite, it leads people longing for more.

More importantly, the recipes haven’t changed. Although some restaurants and brands look to evolve their menus, Popeyes has never strayed from what Al Copeland created. A great piece of chicken served with tasty sides, it is a version of homemade without the extra effort.

While many people will appreciate the authenticity, the reality is that a food deal gets people excited. To celebrate its 50 years, the quick service restaurant is rolling back prices to 1972. Given the soaring food costs of the day, these 1972 prices will have people running to order, and order again.

The special anniversary deal features 2 pieces of bone-in chicken for just 59 cents. To get the huge discount, guests must make a $5 minimum purchase. The special offer is available via mobile order, Popeyes App or online. It will be available June 12 through June 19, 2022.

For under $6, guests can get a filling meal. Whether they purchase some sides for that chicken, a chicken sandwich or some of the iconic fried chicken, there are plenty of options to be enjoyed and reasons to fall in love with the Louisiana Kitchen all over again.
