A new restaurant tops The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 list

Culinary greatness is acknowledged in many ways. Beyond the highly recognizable celebrity chefs on food television, the impeccable dining from restaurants around the world captivate food fantasies. From the stunning artistic plates to the exquisite flavors, the whole dining experience creates a memorable impression. The recently announced The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 list, a new name takes the top spot. Could dining at this restaurant be the ultimate culinary dream?

Restaurants yearn for various top honors. The Michelin stars have long been a top distinction. The few restaurants and chefs who have earned that prize proudly display it. Even the Bib Gourmand or Michelin Plate honor drives food lovers to covet a seat at those tables.

Over the years, other award lists have grown in popularity. The World’s Best List is one of them. Since 2002, a group of over 1,000 culinary experts share their votes for impressive restaurants around the globe. From capturing gastronomic food trends to impeccable service, every element of the dining experience is considered.

Which restaurant earned The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 top honors?

In the recent announcement, Geranium in Copenhagen is crowned number one on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022. After being number two in 2021, the restaurant took over from Noma, which has been placed on the Best of the Best Hall of Fame.

Geranium in Copenhagen seeks to offer food that “awakens the senses.” Led by chef Rasmus Kofoed, the restaurant has captivated diners with its exquisite food and service. It is a dining experience that few other locales can offer.

According to William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, “We are delighted to announce the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 and to celebrate Geranium as the new No.1. Rasmus Kofoed, Søren Ledet and their team have created an unforgettable dining experience, taking seasonal cooking to superlative heights and delivering precise, beautiful and elegant food that combines art and flavour alongside a ground-breaking drinks programme. Geranium has cemented its status as a global culinary destination and a much-deserved winner of the coveted title, The World’s Best Restaurant 2022, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna.”

The announcement event held in London was hosted by Stanley Tucci. This year’s list included restaurants from “24 territories across five continents.” Two U.S. restaurants included in the Top 50 list were Atomix (33) and Le Bernadin (44), which are both located in New York.

A complete list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022 can be found online. In addition, the list includes other accolades including best female chef, chef to watch and others.
