Villain-Con Minion Blast brings fast-pace interaction to Universal Orlando

While the holidays might be full of merry mischief at Universal Orlando, a new attraction announcement is the holiday present that guests are excited to unwrap. Set to open in Summer 2023, Villain-Con Minion Blast puts the action directly into guests’ hands and only the big winner will join The Vicious 6.

When Shrek 4D closed, many families longed for another all-ages attraction. As additional Universal Orlando family friendly attractions come to the end of their run, a blast of entertainment is waiting on the horizon.

The new Villain-Con Minion Blast is an interactive, state-of-the-art gaming attraction. Blending screen technology and immersive environments, guests will have to focus their attention to achieve their ultimate goal, becoming a member of The Vicious 6, which was featured in Minions: The Rise of Gru.

Although there is some mischief in this adventure, the reality is that the Minions storylines appeal to both young and old because there is fun with a little devious twist. Even though good tends to win over evil, there is something engaging about being drawn to the darker side.

Thinking specifically about this type of interactive blaster attraction, the concept appeals to a variety of ages. More importantly, it invites guests to come back time and again to improve their score. Although it might not be the pinnacle of 999,999 on Men In Black, there could be many people who enjoy this interactive experience over and over again.

When Villain-Con Minion Blast opens, it will join the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction and the Minion Café, which will open next year. Although more details about the Minion Café have yet to be revealed, it can be assumed that bananas in some form will be on the menu.

In a way, the combination of experiences creates a new “land” in Universal Studios. Although when HHN arrives in 2023, it will be interesting to see how that family friendly area gets a darker twist.
