This winter whiskey cocktail is the ultimate Hand Warmer
While the weather might be quite frightful, a winter whiskey cocktail can be quite delightful. Luckily, Jameson has the ultimate Hand Warmer cocktail will have everyone warding off the chill.
Many people turn to a warm cocktail on a chilly winter day. While there is always a place for that adult hot chocolate or even that Hot Toddy, the reality is that there are many other warm cocktails that can be poured in the glass.
Jameson has recommended two warm cocktails that are perfect on a cold day. There is something comforting as the mug warms the hands and the liquid hits the tongue. Even if Irish whiskey is not the usual spirit in the glass, it can be delightful switch.
One Jameson winter whiskey cocktail that is perfect on these cold days when everyone is huddling on the couch is The Hand Warmer. As the name suggests, when cradled in the hands, it is quite comforting.
More importantly, the flavors are intriguing. The combination of spices from the Cardamon and the sweetness from the dates makes for the most wonderful cocktail. It might become a new winter tradition.
The Hand Warmer
Ingredients:
- 1 Bottle of Jameson Original
- 3 Liters Apple Juice
- 6 Whole Cardamom Pods
- 3 Sticks Cinnamon
- 200 ml Date Syrup
- Agave, Honey or Maple Syrup will work as a substitute
- 50 gr Ginger
- 3 Whole Lemons
- 3 Whole Star Anise
How to mix:
- Pour 3 liters of pressed apple juice into a large cooking pot.
- Wrap 3 sticks of cinnamon, 3 star anise, 6 green cardamom pods, zest from 3 lemons and 50g of sliced ginger in a cheese cloth.
- Place spices in the cooking pot with the apple juice on medium heat until the liquid boils, and then add 200ml of date syrup and squeeze 3 lemons in.
- Finally add 30ml of Jameson into a tempered glass, and use a ladle to serve your mouth-watering hot punch.
While the Hand Warmer might be the sweet and spicy sip, the Four John Ginger might be the cocktail to soothe the tummy after over indulging in all that rich food. Since ginger can help settle the stomach, the flavor might be the perfect end to the night.
The Four John Ginger
Ingredients:
- 3 ⅓ Parts Boiling Water
- 1 Pinch Cloves
- 1 Piece Ginger (Grated)
- Ice Cubes
- 1 ⅔ Parts Jameson Original
- 1 Slice Lemon
- ⅙ Part Lemon Juice
- 3 Pieces Sugar Cube (White)
How to mix:
- Hand-blend 100g ginger, 100g sugar and 100ml hot water in a bowl.
- Sieve into another bowl and add the Jameson Original and the lemon juice, then top up with hot water.
- Serve in cup or tempered glass, and garnish with a clove-studded lemon slice.
