Friday the 13th has become Fry-Day across quick service restaurants
While some people may never venture into Crystal Lake, others appreciate a few good screams. Still, Friday the 13th has become more than just a day to avoid by those with Friggatriskaidekaphobia. For many quick service restaurants, that Friday has become Fry-Day.
French fries and quick service restaurants go hand in hand. While people can debate the best condiment or a sweet and salty pairing, the reality is that more often than not, people order fries with that meal. Even if the fries could become a meal on its own, people are excited to pick up one of those tasty spuds.
As another Friday the 13th hits the calendar, quick service restaurants are adding to the Fry-Day celebration. On January, Friday 13, 2023, Wendy’s is offering free Hot & Crispy Fries with purchase. While this offer is available via the brand’s app, the free food offer could turn the luck around on a day where some people feel less lucky.
While the 13th is a special offer, Wendy’s is offering several more free food deals throughout January. From free chicken nuggets to free cheeseburgers, each offering is tied to those Hot and Crispy Fries. Whether it is the fries or the free food, Wendy’s understands that its guests are interested in saving a little extra money to kick off the new year.
In a different approach, Checkers and Rally’s looked to help people get over their Friggatriskaidekaphobia. At the end of last year, the brand partnered with Heinz to create The Frunker, Ultimate Underground Bunker Experience.
As Frances Allen, President & CEO of Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. said, “We wanted to help alleviate this friggatriskaidekaphobia, which is why our innovative team collaborated with Heinz brand to create The Frunker and this one-of-a-kind campaign. We may not be able to cure this phobia, but we can alleviate some of its symptoms by offering up some of the best seasoned sustenance available – our famous fries topped with thick, rich and delicious Heinz ketchup.”
Although the opportunity to be whisked away to The Frunker has past, many people can go enjoy some of the favorite Checkers and Rallys fries and hopefully soothe those fears. There is a reason why those fries have been rated so highly by guests.
With Friday the 13th around the corner, it is time to step out of the shadows and focus on a happy thought for the day. Fry-Day might be the fun way to mark the day. Don’t worry, no one is serving vampire ketchup with those French fries.
