M&M’S Caramel Cold Brew celebrates uniquely spelled names in a sweet way

Spelling a person’s name correctly might not seem like a lot, but to some it really matters. While that unlikely scribble on a coffee cup might come with a pause, the reality is that it might not be as humorous the tenth, twentieth or hundredth time around. M&M’s Caramel Cold Brew is ready to right those misspelled wrongs.

Anyone who spells their name differently understands the plight of having to spell it out on certain occasions. For example, there is no “h” in my name yet many people happily add that extra letter. Sometimes my reaction is dismissive due to situation and other times it is annoyance for people’s lack of attention. After a childhood without those correctly spelled name souvenirs, sometimes it means a lot for someone to spell a name correctly.

To celebration National Cold Brew Coffee Day and the launch of the new M&M’s Caramel Cold Brew, Mars is ready to put spelling front and center. Some lucky people will win a year’s supply of the new M&M’s candies flavor for that misplaced letter in their name.

The special Times Square promotion, in partnership with former spelling bee champ Snigdha Nandipati, gave away a year’s supply of M&M’S to 20 people whose names were misspelled. While the promotion might seem a little silly, it is relatable to many. Who hasn’t seen that social media post with the most unlikely name on the cup.

More importantly, the stunt helps to promote the newest M&M’S flavor. Even though coffee is more than just a morning beverage, this idea brings people together over a relatable issue. Although “Bob” might not have that misspelling issue, the reality is a moment that people have seen.
