While many people enjoy a dinner of Orange Chicken or Black Pepper Angus Steak, a new food item is being tested and it could be a game changer for the popular restaurant brand. The Panda Express Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings are being tested, but how long till the innovative food item could come to a local restaurant.

Panda Express has been innovating its menu over the years. From chicken to shrimp dishes, the food offerings combine approachable ingredients with bold flavors. Although the restaurant brand never strays far from the American Chinese entrees that guests love, the creativity keeps guests excited to blend the favorites with a newer option.

Coming to the Panda Express Innovation Kitchen (PXIK) in Pasadena, CA, the Panda Express Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings are 100% Wagyu beef. That premium ingredient is seeing its way to more restaurants beyond the high end price, white table cloth service. By finding ways to bring these ingredients to a larger audience, it grows appreciation for that nuanced flavor.

According to the brand, the Panda Express Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings are inspired by the Chengdu street snack, Zhong Dumpling. A serving includes five 100% Wagyu beef dumplings. The dumplings are “wok-tossed with kale and onions in a sweet and spicy sauce.” The sauce is flavored with Fly By Jing’s Zhong sauce.

The key to this dish is the robust flavor from the wagyu standing up to all the other flavors. The beef is robust but it cannot be one note, which is why the Fly By Jing Zhong sauce is key to round out all the flowers.

Although this special food offer is only available in one restaurant location, people can purchase Fly By Jing Zhong sauce and have a taste of that flavor at home. The “fuzhi” soy sauce hits all the flavor notes, sweet, tangy, and umami. While meant to be a dumpling complement, it can be used in many ways.

When can guests see these Spicy Wagyu Beef Dumplings come to all the Panda Express restaurants? Only time will tell, but many people are hoping it is sooner versus later.
