From a distance, the iconic, vibrant label on the champagne bottle calls. Whether it is the classic bottle that many people have always chilled in the wine refrigerator or one of the specialty bottle reserved for a momentous occasion, that French champagne is a celebration of craft and heritage. Ahead of the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, 14 iconic New York restaurants are toasting to an impeccable food and beverage pairing, burgers and bubbles.

Food and beverage pairings come in a myriad of options. While sommeliers might push the envelope with their creativity, others might look to a classic combination. Although champagne can be enjoyed in anyway the drinker pleases, it does not always have to be with a canape, simple fare, or even a sweet ending. A big juicy burger and bubbles could be the pairing that more people should discover.

Veuve Clicquot has collaborated with 14 iconic New York restaurants to offer burgers and bubbles. Available to book via Resy, these dining options will have people talking. More importantly, it can inspire food lovers to look beyond the commonplace food and champagne pairings.

Included in this special event are restaurants like Dante, Michael’s, Peak, and Fig and Olive. Each restaurant has created a unique burger to pair with Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, Rose, and La Grande Dame. The special event ranges in price from $36-$200.

Although some people might grab that IPA or light lager to enjoy with a burger and fries, the pairing of a champagne with the burger is quite delightful. Burgers can have robust, hearty flavors. The delicate bubbles and bright acidity in the champagne cuts through the burger’s richness. In some ways, it is a wonderful celebration of balanced contrast.

While this special event is available to New Yorkers, anyone can be inspired to create this food and beverage pairing at home. For example, many cooks can create their own version of a gourmet burger. Whether it is a specialty cheese with a brioche bun or a combination of meats piled high, there are a multitude of ways to experiment with flavors and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot.

More information on burgers and bubbles can be found on the Resy website. The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic returns on June 3 to Liberty State Park.
