From popular restaurant chains to Orlando theme parks, shark themed cocktails are often menu features. While those beverages have people diving into the libation, sometimes people’s thirst goes deeper. For a splashing good time, these fishbowl cocktails for the Shark Week celebration are a swimmingly good sip.

For those unfamiliar with fishbowl cocktails, the larger libation is often served in a large schooner and is often intended to be shared with another person. Usually vibrantly colored and featuring sweeter flavors, the name and shape make them a great option to toast to a Shark Week celebration.

Generally, these particular cocktails are more than a single serving. While some cocktails have been built to scale, others can be multiplied to fit that larger glass.

A favorite Shark Week cocktail can be modified into one of the larger scale offerings. For example, Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum has a great cocktail, Shark Bite Recipe, which can be doubled (or tripled) when serving. Simply keep the ratios intact but multiple the ingredients by three.

Shark Bite Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ ounces Sammy’s Beach Bar Platinum Rum
  • ½ ounce Southern Comfort
  • ½ ounce fresh orange juice
  • 1 ounce sweet & sour mix
  • 1 ounce Simple Syrup
  • Sprite, as needed

Garnish: Fresh pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, fresh mint sprig, paper umbrella

Preparation:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the rum, Southern Comfort, orange juice, sweet and sour mix and simple syrup. Shake well and pour into a Collins or highball glass filled with ice. Top with a splash of lemon lime soda. Garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, fresh mint sprig and paper umbrella.

While the Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum turns a classic sized cocktail into a larger one, many fishbowl cocktails are already created to scale. Monin has a large selection of options for this particular cocktail theme.

Since Monin and its syrups bring big flavor, and sometimes color, to the conversation, it helps the bartender make quick work of these large-scale beverages.

Here’s how to make Blood in the Water

Ingredients:

  • 5 oz. Rum
  • 1 oz Monin Grenadine Syrup
  • 1 oz Monin Blue Curacao Syrup
  • 3 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 8 oz Pineapple Juice

Garnishes: Gummy shark candy, blue rock candy, pineapple slice, lime wheel, faux seaweed

Preparation, Build / Over Ice

  1. Fill serving glass full of ice.
  2. Pour ingredients into serving glass in order listed.
  3. Add garnish and serve

While fishbowl cocktails can bring big cheers around the table, the concept can be used for mocktails, too. This option from Monin is a perfect choice for an all-ages event or for people who prefer to keep pass on the alcohol.
