Cheetos Mac ‘N Cheese has always looked to stand out among the sameness. Instead of a tranquil calming color on the shelf, these food offerings bring vibrant, bold colors combined with equally as impressive flavors. While that first bite makes an impression, some people want to extend that conversation beyond the table. With the Cheetos Mac ‘N Cheese x Coral Castillo MAC’ramé Collection, the food fashion moment looks to untie all the fashion rules.

Over the past several years, food fashion has taken center stage. It is more than just a classic t-shirt touting the love of a particular beverage. Today’s looks are innovative and fashion forward. From celebrated fashion designers to current trends, these ensembles invite a bigger conversation.

Recently, Cheetos Mac ‘N Cheese partnered with Coral Castillo on a MAC’ramé Collection. For fans of Project Runway, the celebrated fashion designer impressed everyone with her macrame designs from her season. Blending her Mexican heritage with a modern twist, her unique approach had fashionistas longing to add a piece to their closet.

As part of the Cheetos Mac ‘N Cheese x Coral Castillo MAC’ramé Collection, everyone has an opportunity to win one of the looks. The collection includes The MAC-Top Sneakers and The Fanny MAC. Whether it is an appreciation for the artistic details, the bold colors, or the nod to the Cheetos flavor, these designs are hot.

Ahead of the launch, Coral Castillo spoke with FoodSided about the collaboration. After delighting fans on Project Runway, the celebrated designer has seen much success. This opportunity brings her design aesthetic to an even larger audience.

Coral said, “when I was approached about this project with my signature macrame, I wanted to do it in a new way. The shoes and the fanny pack have my signature details, but the core is Cheetos with its logo and its colors. There is a special place in my heart because macrame is done a lot in Mexico and it brings a part of my culture. I love doing macrame and I think it is amazing. Now I get to share it with all the Cheetos fans.”

Describing her designs, Coral shared, “the bright colors make it difficult to miss the detail. You can see the texture from far away. The color accentuates every single detail. While I like to work with dark colors, the details can get lost. With the vibrant colors you can appreciate more of the macrame.”

While Coral has presented many runway collections, she appreciates this foray into accessories. She believes that it is fun and can open the doors to a wider audience.

Coral commented, “it’s great having the Cheetos fans and my fans coming together for more visibility. It is good to create that deeper connection and share it with more people.”

After appearing on Project Runway, Coral had to push herself. Speaking to that experience, Coral believes that she is more fearless. Specifically, “now that I’m doing this collaboration with Cheetos Mac ‘N Cheese, I’m not afraid to use vibrant, bold colors, take the challenge, and expand myself. It is a great opportunity to look beyond what I first starting doing with fashion, where everything was black and white. I’m evolving and taking challenges as a designer. It opens your eyes to understand that you’re not in these boxes and you can grow as a designer.”

Although Coral might enjoy all three flavors of the Cheetos Mac ‘N Cheese, she does recommend one fashion rule, use only three colors. Building on those colors, pair them with neutrals. Let the pop of color be the shoes or the accessories. That statement piece is the focal point, and the look will be perfect.
