Sour Patch Kids Apple Harvest has candy lovers falling for this seasonal flavor
While Sour Patch Kids always have a mischievous side, the new Sour Patch Kids Apple Harvest has plucked a new take on that favorite fall flavor. Skip bobbing for apples and grab a handful of these sweet and sour candies.
Whether people prefer blue to red, one thing remains constant with Sour Patch Kids. People cannot get enough of the flavor combination. It is more than just the curious creation that developed a legion of loyal fans. It is the eating enjoyment that fills every bag.
Over the years, the Mondelēz International brand has brought special edition flavors to the table. From a dark turn on the most romantic day of the year to summer juiciness with lemonade, those specialty offerings piqued people’s interest.
Now, the brand joins the fall flavor combination with Sour Patch Kids Apple Harvest. The seasonal offering includes three flavors, Cranberry Apple, Apple Cider and Caramel Apple.
Speaking to the new candy, Jenna Carls, senior brand manager, candy, Mondelēz International said, “We’re helping consumers turn over a new leaf this fall with our seasonal introduction of SOUR PATCH KIDS Apple Harvest candy. This limited-edition product captures autumn’s essence in a soft, chewy candy that delivers the ultimate sour-then-sweet combination our fans know and love. Whether you’re looking for a back-to-school treat, planning a trip to the local orchard or preparing for the next tailgate, SOUR PATCH KIDS Apple Harvest candy delivers all the tart and tangy fun this fall.”
Looking at the three flavors, Cranberry Apple, Apple Cider and Caramel Apple, the Cranberry Apple works well into this sweet, sour space. Cranberry always has that tart note and it helps round out the apple flavor. For this version, it should have the upfront pucker that finishes with that subtle sweetness.
The most interesting of the three flavors is the Caramel Apple. While this flavor combination usually falls solely in the sweet category, the punch of sour might be something to consider with the traditional dessert. Instead of a salted caramel bringing out the flavor, a little dusting of that sour coating might be the new way to enjoy the traditional fall candy.
Most important with this new candy offering, it avoided the over saturated pumpkin space. Given all the pumpkin food offerings on the shelf, no one needed a sweet, sour pumpkin candy.
The new Sour Patch Kids Apple Harvest candy is available in stores now. Although it is available through October, the seasonal product might be gone before the spooky night hits. A 10-ounce pouch has a suggested retail price of $3.00.
