Voodoo Ranger and Freak Brothers pour a creative collaboration in the Season 2 finale

The New Belgium Brewing Voodoo Ranger beer is always ready to make an impression. In the Season 2 finale of Freak Brothers on Tubi, the animated adult comedy series puts that beer and its character front and center. Ready to crack open a can and laugh a little louder?

While fans of Freak Brothers are familiar with the adaptation of The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comic, this collaboration might be beer drinkers’ first introduction. Basically, it is a fish out of water story. After seeking the ultimate high, three stoners wake up after 50 years of “rest.” As they navigate their new surroundings, shenanigans may or may not happen.

In the Freak Brothers Season 2 finale, Kitty (voiced by Tiffany Haddish), stumbles upon Master Voodoo juggling cans of Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA. She enjoys a can, becomes infatuated with it, and even asks for her water bowl to be filled with it.

Although the moment has some humor, it is more than just a well-timed product placement. It opens both brands to a wider audience.

Speaking to this collaboration, Dave Knospe, Sr. Director of Brands & Innovation at New Belgium Brewing said, “Tubi provided us with a demographic that allowed us to continue to build our brand and reach younger legal aged drinking and more diverse audiences. With Tubi and The Freak Brothers, we had the demo fit, the psychographic fit and the shared passion point of adult animation that natively worked for our Voodoo Ranger brands lens.”

Finding these connections is vital for beverage brands. Many people have a favorite beer brand that is always stocked in their fridge. When they see that character imagery in other arenas, it solidifies that bond. And, maybe invites them to open another can.

On the other hand, this scene in Freak Brothers could be the spark for some people to try that Voodoo Ranger IPA. Whether it is the traditional IPA or the newer Fruit Force variety, there are plenty of beers to try across the New Belgium brand. Sometimes people just need a little push to step out of their comfort zone.
