Hell’s Kitchen Season 22 episode 2: Back room scolding, exclusive clip
While the chefs might be seeking the American Dream, Hell’s Kitchen Season 22 episode 2 has two chefs wishing their cooking mistake was not part of their reality. As any fan of the FOX television show appreciates, chefs being ushered into the back room rarely comes with a heaping amount of praise.
In the Hell’s Kitchen Season 22 premiere, the chefs tried to impress Gordon Ramsay with their signature dishes. Some chefs nailed expertly prepared proteins and elevated nuanced flavors. Others served boxed pasta and learned to regret that shortcut. Even though no one was eliminated, the battle lines were drawn, and the chefs mentally ranked their competition.
According to FOX, Hell’s Kitchen Season 22 episode 2, “Tad Overwhelming” features the following:
"When the contestants must deliberate on which chef makes the best scallops, tensions run high. A rocky first dinner service for both teams involves raw meat and bad communication. After serving stars like Garcelle Beauvais, Alex Mack, and Martina McBride, Chef Ramsay must decide who will not make the cut in the all-new “Tad Overwhelming” episode of Hell’s Kitchen airing Thursday, Oct. 5 (8:00 PM – 9:00 PM) on FOX."
The first dinner service can be more than a “tad overwhelming.” Even the most experienced chef can succumb to nerves on this kitchen line.
In this exclusive clip provided to FoodSided, two chefs learn the harsh reality of taking raw lobster to the pass, again.
The two chefs in this Hell’s Kitchen clip, Jason and Devon, are not rookies. After Jason boasted about his culinary pedigree on episode 1, there is no reason why he is presenting undercooked lobster to the pass. How or why this mistake arrived on the plate is baffling.
Based on the short clip, it seems that the under cooked lobster happened multiple times during the service. Once can be a mis-step, but too often earns the ire from Chef Ramsay. Also, if the issues are happening during the appetizer course, the Blue Team’s ability to finish dinner service might be hampered.
Although the first dinner service can have the chefs rattled, the reality is that the team needs to work together in order to achieve success. Last episode’s Blue Team’s punishment seemed to show a slight divide. With this additional issue, could Jason be on the outs with his fellow chefs?
In the end, one team will have to lose a member and that chef’s Hell’s Kitchen American Dream will go up in flames. Will the Blue Team recover from undercooked lobster or will the Red Team have a more egregious error that shuts down the kitchen?
