Terms like duty, honor, and service are more than just empty words to the military community. Appreciating the sacrifice associated with that commitment, the upcoming Walmart Heroes and Headliners event is a time to celebrate that men, women, and families who put their country first.

In a tumultuous world, the idea of military service may have taken on a different meaning. While the Greatest Generation and older communities might have been compelled to serve, others choose to follow that path. Whether the decision comes from following a family tradition or is a desire to become part of an organization that is bigger than one individual, the reality is that the military community understands what it means to serve and to sacrifice.

Walmart has long supported the U.S. Military. As John Furner, President and CEO, Walmart U.S. said, “Walmart has a rich history of supporting the military, dating back to our first veteran associate, Sam Walton. Like him, our American military community and their families have ensured the fabric of our freedom, and we’re forever grateful for their sacrifice and service.”

What is the Walmart Heroes and Headliners event?

Held on Veterans Day, November 11, the Walmart Heroes and Headliners event is a special concert for military community. Hosted by Rob Gronkowski and Camille Kostek, the concert features performances from Chris Stapleton, H.E.R. and Imagine Dragons. While the Tampa’s MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheater is sold out, the concert will be livestreamed on Walmart.com/Live, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

While many people are excited to see their favorite performers take the stage, this event is more than a music spectacle. It is another example how the Walmart brand supports the military community. Building on the four pillars of its program, employment, education, entrepreneurship and well-being, the corporation finds ways to not only invest in their future but also celebrate their sacrifice. Over the past 12 years, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation have invested $44 million in supporting military families and their community.

With the Heroes and Headliners event in Tampa, Walmart is supporting local organizations. The $250,000 donation includes supporting the following organizations: New Beginnings for Veterans (Tampa, FL), Hope for the Warriors HOPE (Offices in FL), Fisher House (Tampa VA hospital), Fire Watch Project Inc. (Jacksonville, FL), and Tampa Bay Chamber Foundation (Tampa, FL).

While guests at the Walmart Heroes and Headliners event will be singing and dancing to the music headliners, everyone can take a moment to celebrate the veterans and their families who have served. The sacrifice was a choice and one that is not taken lightly. On Veterans Day and any day, the willingness to share a little gratitude for their choice is always appreciated.
