Just saying Happy Meal can bring a smile to people’s faces. That simple joy of opening the container to reveal food and a toy does not have an age limit. Following the success of Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, the McDonald’s McNugget Buddies get a new look thanks to Kerwin Frost.

Throughout the food world and within pop culture, people are embracing that nostalgic feeling. Whether it is a taste from childhood or just a trying to recreate a feeling, the old is new again. It might not be exactly what was on the table all those years ago, but it is an adaptation of what people remember.

McDonald’s opens another chapter in that nostalgic journey by bringing back the McDonald’s McNugget Buddies. While some people might remember these characters from a 1988 Happy Meal. Although mom might not have preferred kids play with their nuggets at the table, these characters were imaginative toys. From changing their outfits to taking them on epic food adventures, many people wanted to have all the characters.

Speaking to this new offering, Tariq Hassan, McDonald’s USA Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer said, “Fans told us they wanted to celebrate that quintessential childhood experience again. So, we’re excited to team up with Kerwin on this next take, as he brings his own childhood McDonald’s memories to life through reimagined McDonald’s characters, immersing our fans in the world of Frost Way.”

Taking on reimagining the McDonald’s McNugget Buddies is Kerwin Frost. The celebrated artist, DJ, and street style icon, Frost adds a pop culture slant and a modern individuality approach to these characters. Frost commented, “coming up with my own special set of Buddies – each one representing different aspects of self-expression – it’s unreal, a dream come true. McDonald’s has been a great partner from day one, and they’ve truly allowed me to create without limits. I hope the Kerwin Frost Box will serve as a reminder for people to hone their creativity and not be afraid to show the world who they really are.”

The reimagined McDonald’s McNugget Buddies have been transformed by the “Frost Way.” Many people will find a piece of themselves in each of the characters. Even though the visuals are clearly a Frost vibe, there is something that everyone can appreciate in this offering.
