While superheroes might have unbelievable abilities and tremendous stories, every day people can save the day in more meaningful ways. Allyson Felix partnered with Danimals to show how anyone can be a snack hero with some simple food choices.

Morning, noon, and night, one thing tends to remain constant with kids. They are always hungry. From long school days to sports activities to just the daily grind, they need food fuel to stay energized. While those youngsters might be happy to grab any snack from the shelf, parents and caretakers appreciate that more balanced choices can help satisfy that hunger and keep the day moving smoothly.

Recently, Danimals reported a study which found that kids need a couple of snacks a day, in addition to the three meals. Whether those snacks are devoured in the car on the way to a sports practice, parsed out between breakfast and lunch, or fit in whenever the mood hits, the reality is that snacking is more than just a sometimes craving.

Since people’s schedules are busy, Danimals wants to show that its yogurt products can seamless fit into any and every scenario. Whether it is using the Instacart app to place an order while watching that sports practice or scheduling a delivery to arrive just before dinnertime, balancing convenience with cost effective shopping is key. Through its Snack Hero campaign, Danimals and Instacart have a deal that will keep the shelves stocked without breaking the bank. After all, some free food is always a smart choice.

To help raise awareness about the Snack Hero campaign, Danimals partnered with Allyson Felix. In addition to being the most decorated American Track and Field Olympian of all time, Felix is a busy entrepreneur and mom of two children. While she might have sprinted to victory on the track, she appreciates that juggling it all is a long run scenario, not a quick race.

Through her partnership with Danimals, Allyson Felix graciously sat for an interview with FoodSided. From discussing the importance of snacking to setting an example through her parenting approach, Felix conveyed that everyone can act heroically through positive actions.

Moms can sometimes feel pressure to do and be it all. Even though the kids might have that snack break, carving out some “me time” can be down the priority list for moms.

When asked about her ability to find some balance in her day, Felix shared, “I think that one of the hardest things to accomplish is to shift my mindset. I try to approach my day by finding some harmony in everything together. I have come to understand that I cannot do my job unless I have the energy to do it. As moms, we tend to take care of everyone else and we’re at the end. I try to prioritize taking that little break when it is available. Dedicating that time to myself is good for my own well-being, which allows me to take care of my family.”

That willingness to carve out some time for herself is a one of the many ways that she sets examples for her children. As a former athlete, Felix appreciates that food is fuel and snacking is part of that program to maintain energy levels.

As she explained, “we all live such busy lives. Coming from an athletic perspective, I understand in a very deep way, that food is fuel concept. My body has always been the tool that I’ve used. To accomplish the workouts, I need to know that I’m eating the right food. I take the same approach with my family. For us to live a healthy lifestyle, it really matters what we put into our body.”

“The challenge is to address the practicality. When you have a busy schedule and the kids are doing all different types of activities, it can be easy to let those diligent choices slip. For me, meal prep has been huge. Other options, like having a Danimals smoothie ready for my daughter to enjoy on the way to practice, is key, too. It is all about the prep and ease to get things done.”

Teaming up with Danimals was an easy choice for Felix. She appreciated how the brand collaborated up with Instacart to make everything easier for families.

Felix explained, “it is all about being the snack hero, parents come through in a pinch every day. I know when I pick up my daughter, she is always expecting a snack. I choose Danimals because it is easy, nutritious, and has a taste that she loves.”

Getting her kids involved with the food choices is a simple concept which ensures that they are invested in the process. Felix mentioned that “strawberry is the winning flavor in our house. It is always part of the rotation. And, with the Instacart offer, I know that we will be stocking up.”

Allowing her children to be involved in the food choices works in her house. As she explained, “my daughter feels more ownership when she can pick a flavor or be involved in the process.” For any family who is struggling to get the kids to make balanced choices, this type of involvement can be a simple solution.

While the ownership applies to mealtime, Felix believes that being supportive and involved with kids’ activities is vital for the family dynamic. She reflected that her family found ways to support her. As she mentioned, “whatever your child shows a passion for, or just being there for them, is important.” In some ways, those moments are the real heroic ones in every day life.

From being a snack hero to fueling the day with a tasty treat, Allyson Felix has her plan ready. With some help from Danimals, everyone will be cheering racing towards another successful day.
