While Santa might know what everyone wants to unwrap, choosing the right gift is not child’s play for most gift givers. If the choice is between chocolate or wine, one option will get everyone feeling extra merry.

The holiday season is full of food and beverages. From the toast to good fortune to an extra helping of dessert after a lavish meal, the willingness to say yes is more prevalent during the holidays. No one is saying to over-indulge, but no one should have to push aside another treat.

Speaking about people’s food preferences as one year comes to a close, Jim Klein, Chief Customer Officer, Ferrero USA said, "The holiday season is synonymous with celebration and sharing, and our data reveals that sweet treats are a must-have item when it comes to the festivities for most Americans. In particular, we're seeing different buying occasions for chocolate around the holiday season, whether it's gifting, hosting, or personal consumption. Ultimately, it's not just about the celebrations – it's about creating joyful moments that last far beyond the holidays. We're proud to be a part of those traditions and offer products that bring extra delight to the season."

According to a recent Ferrero survey, more than half of survey respondents would prefer to receive chocolate versus wine. While the pairing would be delightful, this information is helpful when considering what to bring as a hostess gift, present, or other gesture. Maybe it is best to have a stack of Ferrero Roche boxes versus a case of wine at the ready this holiday season.

While the chocolate cravings are on overload, other findings in the survey were quite curious. For example, 55% of adults would choose dessert over appetizers at their holiday meal. It seems that people just love that sweet ending.

Also, almost 2/3 of respondents say that they indulge more frequently during the holiday season versus other times of the year. There is just something about the end of the year that gives people permission to say yes. The holly and jolly sentiments extend to all the food and beverages.

Whether it is giving a box of chocolate instead of wine or saying yes to that dessert serving, one thing is clear. Food is the center of holiday celebrations. It is time to say yes and join the merriment.
