While Cinderella’s Castle might serve as a beacon in Orlando’s City Beautiful and The Small World might be a classic ride across the globe, Disney’s seventh theme park destination will be more than the images and stories that are etched into fans' hearts. At Disney in Abu Dhabi, the line between imagination and reality will be blurred by innovative immersive experiences, expert storytelling and impeccable food offerings.

When a guest walks into a theme park, the real world disappears. It is more than forced perspective, character meet and greets, and thrill rides that push reality aside. Guests are encouraged to allow themselves to believe in the fantasy. These worlds are places where adults allow that childlike wonder to soar to new heights.

In partnership with Miral, the Yas Island Disney theme park resort will combine advanced technology, immersive experiences, and classic Disney storytelling. Additionally, the announcement implies that cultural aspects will be woven into the overall guest experience.

During the announcement for this Disney and Miral collaboration, Robert A. Iger, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company said, “As our seventh theme park destination, it will rise from this land in spectacular fashion, blending contemporary architecture with cutting-edge technology to offer guests deeply immersive entertainment experiences in unique and modern ways.”

While the announcement video gives a glimpse into what will rise from the sand, it is more than metal and concrete sculpted into magnificent forms. It is how the visual resonates with the guests’ memories, imaginations, and emotions. When a theme park can blend those aspects, it will have people traveling from far and wide, time and again, to create those special moments.

Although exact details on the theme park, the attractions, and other experiences are unclear, there are certain aspects that seem to be a given. Delicious food will be vital to balance the attractions. Miral will need to bring those elevated dining experiences that people expect from the UAE. Of course, the Mickey pretzel will always be part of the conversation, but the multi-course tasting menu will need to be included, too.

For now, people will digest this announcement, what it means to the theme park industry, and question how far will Disney fans will travel to get a taste of the new experience. Until this seventh gate open, it is time to head to one of the other Disney Parks to get a taste of those magical moments.
