While those secret ingredients that make the classic Dr Pepper unique will always be front and center, the newest Dr Pepper flavor joins a popular beverage trend. Ready to get juicy with the new Dr Pepper Blackberry?

Available now, the newest fruit infused soda joins the popular Dr Pepper Cherry and Dr Pepper Strawberries and Cream. While those two flavors bring a little extra sweetness, the blackberry option has a hint of tartness which makes it even more drinkable. Never overlooking the juicy aspect, the newest beverage seems to have a touch more depth than the other flavors.

Blackberry seems to be having a moment in the food space. While strawberry is a classic and cherry took over the soda aisle, the other berry creates a hint more versatility, especially when pairing the beverage with a food.

For example, blackberry works well with herbaceous notes. It is more than just a sage pairing that makes for a refreshing combination. Blackberry and mint are lovely together. Thyme, basil and more work together harmoniously.

Additionally, blackberry works well with sweet notes. Given that Dr Pepper has a long list of ingredients, that single fruit helps to highlight the complexity of the beverage. In some ways, this offering might be the most successful pairing yet.

When thinking about pairing this beverage with food, take a page from the forager’s notebook. A big hearty burger or even a steak sandwich would make for a delicious combination. Or, consider simple lemon poundcake or lemon meringue pie for a sweeter option.

The new Dr Pepper Blackberry is available in stores now. Retailers are selling 12 packs of 12 oz cans. Additionally, 20 oz bottles are available for a limited time.
