Ahead of the 24 in 24 Last Chef Standing Season 2 premiere, Esther Choi discussed what Food Network fans will see with this intense challenge. In the world of reality food television, this program captures the real factor that few guests ever see.

Food television shows have become must watch television. While viewers appreciate the competition, drama, and entertainment of each episode, those impeccable dishes create an anticipation to enjoy a meal at one of the chefs’ restaurants.

Although the competition always has certain parameters, 24 in 24 Last Chef Standing Season 2 is more than just whipping egg whites into a perfect stiff peak during a competition. Every minute gives a glimpse of the stress, determination, and perseverance required to open and run a restaurant. It is not necessarily daily reality, but it does offer a better understanding into a chef’s life.

During an event with Listerine, Esther Choi shared her thoughts on 24 in 24 Last Chef Standing Season 2. Speaking about Season 1’s success, she said, “24 is the craziest show ever, and it’s very real. I think that’s why the first season was so successful because we filmed the show in 24 hours and every minute was real.”

While culinary competitions are many, Choi spoke candidly about the real of the reality television. She said, “I know we say reality, but it was actually real. For that 24 hours, we were all there cooking, hosting, filming, whatever we were doing, the challenges, it was all a very real game.”

That feeling comes through in each episode. Choi said, “I think that’s what people see when they watch the season. Not only is it so cutthroat, but it also kind of represents what the food world or the restaurant world specifically is really like. When you’re opening a restaurant, it’s no different, you’re up 24, 36, 72 hours, it’s nonstop.”

“This cooking show is supposed to mimic the real restaurant world and the real chef life. I think that’s why it was so successful and season two is crazier than season one, if you can believe it.”

Looking at the chef who decided to compete in Season 2, it is the best of the best. As Choi said, “the roster of chefs are on another playing field. It’s the top competitors that wanted to challenge themselves, so that’s why they decided to do the show. For season two you can expect a lot of big names on the show, lots of new crazy challenges, but all real and really emotional and exciting.”
