A longstanding NFL tradition, Ford Field hosts the annual Thanksgiving Day game. This year’s contest sees the Detroit Lions take on the Chicago Bears. Given the Lions success this season, the local fans are grateful for all the tallies in the win column. With everyone hungry for more, Levy has the ultimate holiday dish that is the must eat on game day.

Football food is big business. Each stadium’s hospitality partners use the various food choices to lure the fans away from the action and invite them to indulge in some of the delicious offerings.

Since the annual Thanksgiving game has some people stepping away from the traditional holiday table, Levy wants to give guests a taste of those familiar flavors. It might not necessarily be grandma’s gravy or Aunt Mary’s sweet potato casserole, but it captures the flavors of the food-centric holiday.

Levy understands that the annual Thanksgiving game is a tradition for Lions fans. Additionally, many people travel to the city for the game. Football might be the reason for people gathering, but the food needs to be on point.

As Andy Lansing, CEO of Levy said, “For more than 20 years, we’ve had the privilege of playing a role in the Detroit Lions annual Thanksgiving game. It’s one of the great moments at the intersection of sports and food, and an absolutely cherished tradition. Not only do we host and feed 60,000+ hungry fans in the stadium, but our homestyle cooking is on full display for the millions at home watching the annual post-game turkducken and turkey leg celebration. That celebration truly kicks off Thanksgiving, and we take great pride in bringing everyone together.”

One must try menu item is the Thanksgiving Pile Up. The gigantic, open-faced sandwich has everything that is usually on the holiday feast. According to Levy, the oven-roasted turkey is piled high with mac and cheese, sauteed greens, and sweet potato puffs. Served on cornbread, this fork and knife meal will keep everyone full till the final whistle blows.

The Thanksgiving Pile Up will be available The Blitz. A limited number of sandwiches will be available on game day.

Other specialty items include turkey legs, sweet potato cheesecake, and a variety of pumpkin-spice infused treats. Basically, there is no shortage of food options to satisfy every craving.

A nod to another Thanksgiving tradition, Goose Island Bourbon County Stout will be available at the Beer of the Game Cart. Not only is it a nice nod to the Lions opponent, but the annual beer release is always a holiday tradition.

From 2,500 pounds of turkey to 4.500 slices of pie, Levy will be dishing all the scrumptious food. Now, the Detroit Lions just need to deliver a win.
