Fries and doughnuts: Here’s how to score a free Krispy Kreme Original Glazed doughnut

Certain food combinations are iconic. Burgers and fries or coffee and doughnuts are two options that instantly come to mind. As Krispy Kreme begins its rollout into McDonald’s restaurants, it is time to celebrate with a free Original Glazed doughnut. Here’s how to get one.

When Krispy Kreme announced its McDonald’s partnership, many people cheered. It is more than just another breakfast option on the menu or an alternative dessert choice.

The collaboration between two brands not only solidifies their fan base but it expands it. People who love that classic doughnut have another location to satisfy that craving. The Big Mac lovers have another option beyond a frozen dessert. It is a win for everyone.

Speaking to this food collaboration, Josh Charlesworth, Krispy Kreme President and CEO, “The top request we receive from consumers is for more access to our delicious, fresh doughnuts. Having Krispy Kreme doughnuts under the Golden Arches is golden for our fans and we’re excited to celebrate by giving our guests who also visit a McDonald’s a free Original Glazed doughnut.”

To celebrate the rollout, Krispy Kreme is giving away doughnuts to everyone, across the U.S. From October 10 through the 14th, participating U.S. Krispy Kreme shops will give any guest who shows a McDonald’s receipt, paper or digital, dated 10/10-14, a free Original Glazed doughnut.

While this free food giveaway is nationwide, the Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s collaboration starts on October 15 in Chicago. The doughnuts will be available all-day, while supplies last at each location.

According to Krispy Kreme, the following doughnuts will be available at McDonalds, Original Glazed Doughnut, Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles Doughnut and Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled Doughnut. Whether paired with that McCafe, a soda, or just enjoyed on its own, there are plenty of reasons to order.

Additionally, it will be interesting to see how people “hack” the Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s menu. While the Original Glazed Doughnut burger idea has been done in various ways, there are other options to take these food items to the next level.

From a French fry, Krispy Kreme doughnut sundae to a McNugget sauced sandwich, the possibilities are many. Personally, asking for a Krispy Kreme with a McNugget Happy Meal might be the ultimate food hack. The Original Glazed Doughnut, with Spicy Buffalo Sauce, McNuggets and fries piled high would be an epic meal.

The Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s rollout begins on October 15, 2024. The food partnership will continue to expand nationwide until 2026. A total of 12,000 locations will be included by the end of 2026.
