With eight chefs remaining, Hell’s Kitchen Season 23 charity night is more than just another dinner service. Benefiting two charities, the chefs need to cook from the heart. This dinner celebrates special guests who raise awareness for the organizations, and no one should disappoint Gordon Ramsay.
Certain episodes are traditions during the Hell’s Kitchen season. While the Blind Taste Test often gets laughs, other moments are more poignant. It is more than the jubilation of earning a Black Jacket. As every chef appreciates, food is that common connector. Charity Night celebrates the joy that food can bring.
FOX graciously gave FoodSided two exclusive clips for Hell’s Kitchen Season 23 Charity Night episode.
As seen in the first clip, Gordon Ramsay introduces the two charities. They are American Heart Association and the Connecticut Chapter of The Special Olympics. The tables are full of special guests of honor and members of the organizations.
With each chef in charge of a particular course, the pressure is on to ensure that this dinner is well-received. There is always pressure in Hell’s Kitchen, but this dinner service is more heightened.
Check out the special menu for Hell’s Kitchen Season 23 Charity Night.
According to the clip, this dinner is different from the traditional Hell’s Kitchen menu. While a few dishes have similarities to traditional offerings, others are not the same. How the chefs execute the food will showcase their ability to adapt and handle the pressure.
Looking at a few of the dishes, one or two should not be too far from the chefs' comfort zone. For example, the chefs cook scallops every night. The presentation of this dish is different, but all the chefs should be able to properly sear scallops at this point in the competition. If Ann Marie or Joe fail in their leadership, their time in Hell’s Kitchen could be coming to an end.
On the other hand, cooking gnocchi is a new for the chefs. While those pillowy bites should be well-prepped prior to hitting the pan, getting the right texture is key to a great dish. There is a fine line between crisp and burnt.
The fish and beef course should be easy to handle for the chefs. Although it is a progressive menu, each of the chefs should be able to complete these courses. It is their time to shine.
The biggest stumbling block could be the dessert course. No one is a pastry chef and a souffle is a delicate dish. Hopefully, no one’s souffle falls prior to tableside presentation.
Overall, Hell’s Kitchen Charity Night is a time for the chefs to shine. From leading the kitchen with their particular course to working well as a team, Gordon Ramsay cautiously watches how they handle the pressure. The chefs who stand up to the challenge have a big opportunity to earn that Black Jacket soon enough.
