While SpongeBob is adept at cooking up all those Krabby Patties, getting the whole family into the kitchen works with little steppingstones. Home Chef has created several SpongeBob SquarePants inspired meals that the whole family will be excited to enjoy.
Both parents and chefs appreciate that getting kids involved with creating a meal makes them more interested in eating the food. They have an ownership with the food that arrives on the plate. It can be as simple as helping to pick out the meal that gets them more engaged with the final product.
The new SpongeBob SquarePants collaboration might be aimed at families, but they are all ages meals. From the person who enjoys a twist on a burger to a hearty chicken sandwich, these recipes have a dash of whimsy, but they are far from juvenile.
According to Kayla McCreery, marketing manager at Home Chef, “At Home Chef, we’re committed to creating delicious, easy-to-make meals that everyone can enjoy. Teaming up with SpongeBob SquarePants allows us to bring a playful twist to mealtime, offering a fun way for fans of all ages to recreate the flavors of Bikini Bottom, no boating license needed.”
The Home Chef SpongeBob SquarePants menu features the following items:
Pineapple Under the Sea Burger with “tiki” teriyaki sauce and cilantro “kelp” fries (repeats weekly)
“CHOCOLATE!” Brownie Cookie Skillet (repeats weekly)
Sandy’s Texas-Style Honey BBQ Chicken with cheddar mashed potatoes and creamed corn
The “Krusty Krab Pizza” Flatbread with pepperoni and mushrooms
Plankton’s “Holographic” Beef Meatloaf with Karen’s Salad
“Kuddly Krab” Chicken Sa-lad with lettuce and tomatoes
Having had the opportunity to try some of the new SpongeBob SquarePants menu, the Pineapple Under the Sea Burger with “tiki” teriyaki sauce and cilantro “kelp” fries is quite successful. First, the burger is quite easy to make. The familiar beef burger gets a boost from the teriyaki sauce. The flavor is there, but it is not overpowering, which makes younger diners happy.

The pineapple garnish needs to be well-cooked. The caramelization on the pineapple helps to balanced the meatiness of the burger. If cooks are looking to amplify the flavor, consider adding some spices to the pineapple. No one is saying that it needs to be bathed in gochujang, but adults can appreciate a touch of zip combined with the sweetness.
Lastly, the “kelp” fries are a great reminder that freshly made fries are always the most flavorful. While some people might not appreciate the cilantro topping, any fresh herb instantly boosts the simple fries. Also, the blackened seasoning can be used simply or with a heavier hand, depending on preference.

The “Krusty Krab Pizza” Flatbread with pepperoni and mushrooms is a reminder that pizza is really a flatbread interpreted in different ways. Using naan as the base, this recipe is easy and is a great way to get everyone involved with making dinner. Adding the cooked mushrooms, pepperoni or even sprinkling the cheese turns dinner into an activity. It is simple but the flavor is there.
Also, the use of sundried tomatoes in the tomato sauce is a hack that everyone should remember. Just like Calabrian chilis bring the spice, sundried tomatoes offer depth. From pizza to pasta, it is a tip to keep in the back pocket.
The Home Chef SpongeBob SquarePants-themed menu is available to order now. It can be ordered through March 21. Additionally, the “CHEFKRABS” will give first time customers a price reduction to $4.99 per serving.
