It might not officially be summer yet, but with temperatures creeping up to the 80s and 90s, it may as well be. Here in Virginia, it's already scorching and that's not even taking into account the humidity. Needless to say, I'm craving frozen desserts to cool down and Kroger fittingly launched a new Summer Collection featuring four new flavors.
The Kroger Brand collection includes four pint-sized flavors, and will only be available for a limited time. In honor of this special and delicious launch, Kroger is also bringing back the free pint offer for the upcoming summer solstice. On June 20, the retailer will give away 92,000 pints of free ice cream.
So, what are these new flavors coming out in stores?
Fireside Nights
FoodSided has written up multiple posts now about places launching S'mores flavors, it seems to be a staple of summer 2025, which makes sense since it invokes the sense of being around an inviting campfire. Touted as an "elevated" take on classic dessert, the ice cream is toasted marshmallow flavor with s'mores pieces mixed in.
Italian Style Summer Fizz
Get a taste of a European getaway with this blood orange sherbet loaded with candy clusters and a blood orange ribbon of flavor. I'm sold on the blood orange sherbet, less sure that I want hard candy clusters in my ice cream.
Poolside Tan Lines
A fairly simple combination of vanilla bean, chocolate, and coffee ice cream, this particular flavor is meant to mimic the appearance of someone who has spent an afternoon in the sun. Coffee ice cream is so underrated, I'll check this one out for sure.
Sandy Shores
Last but not least, we have a coconut ice cream with sweet and salty pretzel mix-ins. Also, it's very blue, just like tropical waters. I have mixed feeling about coconut flavors, but I love pretzel additions. I'm curious how those two flavors will complement one another.
Despite being a "summer" collection, Kroger noted in its press release that these flavors aren't likely to stick around the entire season as they are limited in quantity.
How to get a free pint of Kroger ice cream
To get your digital coupon and exchange it for a free pint of ice cream, you'll need to visit the FreeKrogerIceCream.com and download the coupon, which will be available exclusively on Friday, June 20, beginning at 12 p.m. ET, while supplies last.
All four of the new Summer Collection flavors are viable for the coupon, along with other classic Kroger Brand flavors like their Deluxe Cookie and Cream. An additional offer allows customers to save $1 on any purchase of two Kroger Brand ice cream pints.
The coupon is redeemable at participating locations from June 20 to July 4. Free ice cream pint promotion is valid in all U.S. states except CA, CO, LA, TN, NV and valid in all banner stores except Mariano's, Metro Market, Pick 'n Save and QFC.
