Modelo Ghost Kitchen celebrates flavor and culture for Dia de los Muertos
During Dia de los Muertos, many people reflect on their heritage and culture. With the Modelo Ghost Kitchen, the special event serves guests a taste of authentic recipes that are more than just flavorful food. It is a celebration of the connection between past, present, and future.
While Modelo might be the number one beer in the U.S., it is more than just a refreshing beverage that can pair with almost any food. The history and tradition brewed into that Mexican brand ensure that every beer poured tastes the same as people remember.
In honor of this year’s Dia de los Muertos celebration, Modelo is opening a special Ghost Kitchen. Although the name could have different meanings, this concept is neither scary nor a restaurant dupe.
Traditionally, the fall holiday is a time to reflect on ancestors. The Modelo Ghost Kitchen is meant to celebrate the connection to the past as well as look to how the future generation can keep that conversation going. The curated menu features dishes that have special meaning to the various chefs.
Specifically, Alfredo Garcia, Pati Jinich and Alejandra Tapia created six dishes that pay respect to their family members who have influenced their lives. They not only does the event showcase recipes that are a taste of traditional Mexican cuisine, they also pair well with Modelo.
According to Logan Jensen, Vice President, Brand Marketing, Modelo said, “These curated dishes are not only inspired by loved ones, but they’re designed to pair perfectly with a Modelo, helping to authentically celebrate the holiday while remembering and honoring their own friends and family who have passed. As a brand, Modelo is committed to championing authentic Mexican celebrations and traditions in the United States, and this Día de los Muertos, the Modelo Ghost Kitchen is helping to bring those memories back to life.”
Included on the Model Ghost Kitchen, the menu features the following:
Beer Battered Fish Tacos, recipe developed by Alfredo Garcia
Beer Braised Carnitas Nachos, recipe developed by Alfredo Garcia
Three Cheese Crusted Quesadillas with Salsa Borracha, recipe developed by Pati Jinich
Roasted Tomato and Pinto Bean Soup with Masa Dumplings, recipe developed by Pati Jinich
Carne Asada with Rice and Beans, recipe developed by Alejandra Tapia
Pollo Asado in a Beer Citrus Marinade, recipe developed by Alejandra Tapia
Looking at the menu, the flavors are diverse. While some people might gravitate toward a favorite food pairing, others might be willing to step out of their comfort zone.
Additionally, the recipes showcase the diversity of Mexican cuisine. From the vibrant, fresh baja influenced fish tacos to the hearty, robust notes in the soup, there is something to satisfy every craving.
Whether paired with a Modelo Especial, Negra, or even one of the new Cheladas, the food offerings are versatile enough to have many pairings. Seeing which combinations people prefer can spark a conversation, too.
