Nate Berkus suggests this wine recipe hack that your guests will love
Everyone knows that Nate Berkus can create a visually impressive, welcoming space for that holiday gathering. Since food is often the centerpiece of the table, this wine recipe hack is the perfect sweet ending to a memorable meal.
This year, Berkus, the talented interior designer, partnered with Woodbridge Wines to bring a meaningful conversation to the holidays. Since food costs are a continual concern for many people, food insecurity continues to grow. During the holidays, that less than bountiful table dampens the seasonal spirit.
Woodbridge Wines and Nate Berkus collaborated on “From One Table to Another.” Sometimes a kind gesture is the one that has even more meaning during the holiday season. Check out the campaign video on Instagram.
For those people fortunate to gather with family and friends around the table, using various food and beverages throughout the entire meal can help to keep food costs in check. For example, that bottle of wine served with dinner can also be the ingredient in a decadent dessert.
Berkus shared a recipe for a Red Wine Chocolate Cake Glaze. While many people enjoy a sippable dessert, this recipe uses the Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon in a red wine glaze for the cake.
As Berkus explained, “This is a recipe that will definitely impress - you can even take the Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon to make a red wine glaze. Or, if you’re like me, simply serve it alongside a glass of the wine. Promise your guests will love you either way.”
Here’s how to make Red Wine Chocolate Glaze using Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon.
Ingredients
8 oz. extra dark chocolate chips
¼ cup (½ stick) unsalted butter
½ teaspoon kosher salt
½ cup powdered sugar
½ cup Woodbridge Cabernet Sauvignon
Directions
Over medium heat, bring wine just to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted completely, remove from heat and immediately add the chocolate chips and powdered sugar, stirring constantly with a spatula until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well combined.
Working quickly while the chocolate mixture is still warm, stir in the wine.
While this recipe is for the adults, the food concept can be used in more recipes than just chocolate cake. For example, why not use it as a drizzle over some simple vanilla ice cream. Or, use it as a dip for a simple biscotti cookie. There are plenty of uses.
This holiday season, wine is for drinking and more. Never let a drop go to waste.
