Chick-fil-A gets juicy with its newest beverage, Cherry Berry Sunjoy

While the quick service restaurant might have offered Southern style chicken sandwiches before it was an all out battle for supremacy, the Chick-fil-A lemonade is always bright and refreshing beverage choice. With the fifth seasonal flavor to hit restaurant menus, the Cherry Berry Sunjoy, lemonade, and Frosted Lemonade have everyone thirsty for that first sip of juicy delight.

In a recent Chick-fil-A announcement, the quick service restaurant brand revealed that it is adding Cherry Berry Sunjoy as a limited time beverage offering. It is also available as a lemonade and Frosted Lemonade beverage. Available starting April 8, the newest Sunjoy flavor joins previous seasonal offerings of Watermelon Mint, Cloudberry, White Peach and Mango Passion.

According to Chef Christy Cook, “Our Guests have always enjoyed both cherry and berry flavors, especially during the Spring season. We wanted to explore how to deliver that burst of fruit flavor they love, in a way that is unique to Chick-fil-A and that pairs so well with our menu items. Be on the lookout for other exciting beverage flavors to come and maybe a few familiar favorites from the past!”

While the pretty pink color might channel a Barbie moment, it is the sweet, juicy flavors that have people wanting more. Although cherry might have people thinking of summer pies and picnics, it is that hint of nostalgia that appeals to a wide audience. Even though the previous limited edition flavors might have been food trend centric, this offering seems to focus on familiar, comforting, and simple refreshment.

Since the beverage is slightly sweet, it might be nice to pair the flavor with one of the spicy chicken offerings. Sweet can often temper spicy flavors. It could be a fun way to get people to step out of their comfort zone a little.

In addition, the Cherry Berry flavor Sunjoy is a unique offering not available on other quick service restaurant menus. While lemonade, in particular flavored lemonade, is quickly becoming the chicken beverage pairing, the tea, lemonade, and fruit option keeps the beverage from becoming too sweet. It might not be grandma’s sun tea, but it is taste that brings visions of warm, relaxing sunny summer days.

Could a new chicken sandwich join Chick-fil-A’s new Cherry Berry Sunjoy?

While everyone can get a taste of the new Cherry Berry Sunjoy flavor, another food item is being tested.  Available for a limited time in Raliegh, North Carolina, the Pretzel Cheddar Club Sandwich is a bold move for Chick-fil-A.

Although nothing will ever replace that classic chicken sandwich, the addition of a pretzel bun option changes the conversation. How the hearty, denser texture of a pretzel bun with the classic Chick-fil-A chicken pairs together is not necessarily the obvious choice, but it should work.

While the textures will lead to eating satisfaction, it is the Creamy Dijon Mustard Sauce that will have people coming back for more. That tangy, slightly spicy condiment is perfect with a pretzel bun. Plus, it brings a new flavor option to the Chick-fil-A menu. For people who prefer to skip the pickle but appreciate a punch of acid, this condiment might be their preferred choice.

Will the Pretzel Cheddar Club Sandwich get a nationwide roll out? Everyone will have to wait and see how the menu test is received.
