Creative ways to level up the iconic Dole Whip
For forty years, the iconic Dole Whip has offered that sweet, tropical flavor. It is simple, but it can also be elevated in a variety of ways. To keep the frozen treat fresh, consider some of these creative ways to level up that classic dessert.
Whether enjoyed in a Disney Park, near a Hawaiian beach, or from the comforts of the couch, the idea of transforming that juicy pineapple into a creamy, frozen spoonful of deliciousness resonates with young and old. Over the years, that classic dessert has been served in many ways.
For example, Disney Parks has offered “adult” versions that skip the spoon and opt for a straw. Without losing the luscious texture, the liquor floater amplifies the “fun” experience. Sometimes it is totally permissible to have whimsy and nostalgia in a single sip.
Since it might not always be feasible to head to the Parks to satisfy that Dole Whip craving, there are other options. The easiest is to head to the local store and buy a box of Dole Packaged Foods Dole Whip. Available in pineapple, mango, and strawberry, the frozen treat captures that bright, refreshing fruity flavor.
While many people would happily dig into the treat straight from the container, it is even better when it is scooped into a bowl. It allows the texture to become a little smoother and the moment can be savored a little longer.
Additionally, either flavor is even better when paired with some fresh fruit. For example, consider adding some pineapple chunks as a topping. Actually, some grilled or caramelized pineapple chunks not only add another texture but also showcase the varied fruit flavor. It shows that the Dole Whip foundation can take on a variety of other flavors.
With the Mango option, consider going the spicy route with some Tajin. Channeling the classic Mangonada, that hint of heat makes a huge difference.
Or, why not go in a totally different direction and make a dessert mash-up. For example, sandwich the Dole Whip inside a pate a choux pastry for different take on an ice cream sandwich. Or, use fruit as the "pastry" component for a sandwich. As long as the frozen dessert is the primary flavor, there are plenty of options to explore.
For the person who wants to amplify the flavor even more, Dole has a wide array of recipes. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Dole Whip’s debut at Disneyland, Dole sought recipe ideas and crowned one the winner.
Made by super fan, Rachel Anderson, the Strawberry Coconut Lime Dole Whip, is a sweet and bright combination that takes the tropical treat in a whole new direction.
