While many people appreciate salad is a healthy eating food choice, the reality is that people can get bored with another bowl of leafy greens. Fresh Express just launched a new salad kit concept and the temperature versatility has people hungry for another serving.

Many people turn to Fresh Express for its simplicity. The option of open, combine, and eat has value. By reducing the barrier to entry, many people are more willing to opt for vegetables over another pre-packaged snack.

Joining the brand’s line-up is a new option, Hot or Cold Salad and Noodle Meal Kits. This new food launch is a game changer for the salad category. Being able to serve one dish in multiple ways ensures that nothing is wasted.

Adding the hot aspect makes these kits perfect as a base for a bigger meal. With some protein, it could mimic the same dish that people order via their favorite restaurant.

As Christian Friedrich, product research and development chef at Fresh Express said, “When it comes to meal planning, consumers value convenience, flavor, and choice, and they’re looking for foods that meet these preferences. Through extensive consumer research and taste testing, we created a kit that delivers on consumer expectations and goes beyond the deliciously fresh salad greens we’re known for. Whether consumers want to prepare an irresistibly cool salad straight out of the bag or a quick and easy warm meal in just five minutes, the Hot or Cold Meal Kits make it simple to enjoy a restaurant inspired meal at home – without having to order takeout.”

Whare the Fresh Express Hot or Cold Salad and Noodle Meal Kits options?

According to Fresh Express, the new meal kits come in three Asian inspired flavors, Teriyaki, Asian Sweet Ginger, and Korean Sesame. Each kit comes with “freshly chopped vegetables, ready-to-eat pre-cooked noodles, gourmet dressing sauce, and crispy toppings.”

The Teriyaki flavor is probably the most familiar and versatile option of the trio. Given the approachable flavor, it is easy to get people to enjoy that serving of broccoli and kale. Plus, the crunchy wontons feel a little indulgent with all those vegetables.

Thinking about this kit, it would work well with almost any protein. From a simple chicken to a seared steak, the options are many. Some people might want to buy two bags and turn this meal into a make your own salad bar.

The Asian Sweet Ginger feels like a restaurant style dish. The soft-flat wheat noodles have a robust flavor that stands up to the sweet ginger. With this dish, consider shrimp or even a white flakey fish. The combination of sweet and a touch spicy needs something light to let the other flavors shine.

Lastly, the Korean Sesame has some kick. The soy hoisin chili dressing sauce is bold yet approachable. It has just the right amount of heat to balance all the vegetables. Although it would be great with some chicken, it is the salad that is perfect on its own.

The Fresh Express Hot or Cold Salad and Noodle Meal Kits are available in stores now, including Aldi. The suggested retail price is $5.99.
